Objective: The objective of the present study was to explore causal pathways to understand how second traumatic experiences could affect the development of emotional exhaustion and psychiatric problems.
Methods: A total of 582 workers who had jobs vulnerable to secondary traumatic experiences were enrolled for this study. Emotional exhaustion, secondary trauma, resilience, perceived stress, depression, anxiety, and sleep problems were evaluated.

Pore structure development in Portland cement, fly ash, or/and ferronickel slag (FNS) was investigated using mercury intrusion porosimetry and X-ray CT tomography. The progress of hydration was observed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and compressive strength while durability of concrete was monitored by chloride penetration resistance and chloride profiles. Mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) results suggested that the blended cement had a higher porosity while lower critical pore size.

Because antimony trioxide (ATO) used widely for PANVDC is suspected as a carcinogen, non-toxic zinc hydroxystannate (ZHS) could be the alternative for reduction of ATO usage. Moreover, a flame retardant efficiency of the combination of ATO with ZHS could be expected because it was reported that ATO resists flame in the gas phase, whereas ZHS reacts in the condensed phase.

is a leguminosae plant and grows mainly in semi-arid areas of northwest China and Mongolia. However, the lack of studies on reference genes limits the accurate understanding of the molecular biology mechanisms in this crop under abiotic stresses. In this study, we selected nine candidate genes from salt-treated transcriptome data and evaluated their stability by using geNorm, NormFinder, BestKeeper, and RefFinder in salt and drought conditions.

Methods: To investigate the characteristics of dystonic A-T, we screened previous reports with A-T patients presenting dystonia as a main manifestation, and included 38 dystonic A-T patients from 16 previous studies and our 2 cases.
In this study, dissolving microneedles (DMNs) with dual-release pattern, capable of both bolus release and slow release, were prepared. These DMNs were used with a hepatitis B vaccine that requires multiple shots to achieve immunological efficacy comparable to that obtained when two separate shots are administered. Dissolving microneedles with HBsAg in PLA tips and CMC coating formulation together (HBsAg-PLA/CMC-DMNs) consist of polylactic acid (PLA) tips for slow release, a carboxy-methyl cellulose (CMC) coating formulation for bolus release, and a dissolving base of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) for dissolution in the skin.

Altered event-related potential (ERP) performance, such as GoNogo tasks, has been regarded as a neurocognitive process associated with attention and behavioral inhibition. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between Nogo ERP and adult ADHD in MDD.

Methods: We reviewed the medical records of three patients with orbital or cranial form of IIP who were treated with tacrolimus as an adjuvant treatment.
Background And Purpose: The findings of ophthalmic examinations have not been systematically investigated in visual snow syndrome. This study reviewed the abnormal neuro-ophthalmologic findings in a patient cohort with symptoms of visual snow syndrome.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 28 patients who were referred for symptoms of visual snow to a tertiary referral hospital from November 2016 to October 2019.
Background And Purpose: Nonketotic hyperglycemia often causes transient visual field defects, but only scattered anecdotes are available in the literature.
Methods: We report a patient with homonymous superior quadrantanopsia due to nonketotic hyperglycemia and provide a systematic literature review of the clinical features of 40 previously reported patients (41 in total, including our case) with homonymous visual field defects in association with nonketotic hyperglycemia.
Results: The typical visual field defect was congruous (84.

Research studies on zinc metal-based batteries have attracted considerable attention as a candidate for post-lithium-ion batteries. Zinc is one of the few metal anodes that is compatible with aqueous and non-aqueous electrolytes, providing a large theoretical capacity of 820 mAh g. However, in aqueous electrolytes, the zinc metal anode suffers from hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), by which zinc is irreversibly consumed or corroded continually.

We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent totally robotic and laparoscopic gastrectomy with intracorporeal gastroduodenostomy. Gastroduodenostomy using the ENDOWRIST robotic stapler (RR) was compared to that using an endolinear stapler during robotic gastrectomy (RE) and to that using an endolinear stapler during laparoscopic gastrectomy (LE).

Background And Objective: Levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID) is a disabling complication of Parkinson's disease (PD). Imaging-based measurements, especially those related to the surface shape of the basal ganglia, have shown potential for explaining the severity of LID in PD. Here, we aimed to explore a novel application of the methodology to find biomarkers of LID severity in PD using regularization.

Retrospective review was conducted examining the fluorescein angiographic findings of children with amblyopia (January 2017 to December 2018). We categorized the peripheral vascular patterns into two groups: loop and branching patterns.

Relatively little is known about the neurophysiology of adult Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Brain network analysis can yield important insights into the neuropathology in adult ADHD. The objective of this study was to investigate source-level cortical functional network using resting-state electroencephalography (EEG) in drug-naive adult patients with ADHD.

Methods: A total of 1331 community residents (785 females, 546 males; mean ± SD age, 38 ± 19 years) were recruited in a prospective registry-based cross-sectional study. Dry eye symptomology, ocular surface characteristics, and tear film quality were evaluated for each participant within a single clinical session, in accordance with the global consensus recommendations of the TFOS DEWS II reports.
Objective: This study investigated the treatment response and cognitive enhancement effects of buspirone augmentation of escitalopram in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD), according to atypical feature subtypes of MDD.
Methods: An 8 week, randomized, parallel-controlled, open-label study was conducted. The Columbia Atypical Depression Diagnostic Scale was administered to evaluate atypical features.
The aim of the study was to explore the association between functional outcomes and mismatch negativity (MMN) activity in participants with mood disorders. The study participants were 27 subjects with major depressive disorder (MDD), 29 subjects with bipolar disorder (BD), and 33 healthy controls who performed a passive auditory oddball paradigm while electroencephalography (EEG) was recorded. Peak amplitudes and source activity of the MMN were compared across groups.

The psychopharmacological properties and abuse potential of 4'-F-PCP have not been fully characterized. In this study, we evaluated the psychomotor, rewarding, and reinforcing properties of 4'-F-PCP using the open-field test, conditioned place preference (CPP), and self-administration paradigms in rodents.

During the coating process, the reaction conditions, such as the ALP to ZHS molar ratio, were controlled, and the morphology of the products was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The prepared composites were introduced into poly(acrylonitrile--vinylidene chloride) (PANVDC), and the change in compatibility between ZHS and the polymer matrix was characterized.
