Methods: Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assays were used to assess HLEC viability. HLEC viability/death was detected using a Calcein-AM/PI double staining kit; the annexin V-FITC method was used to detect HLEC apoptosis.
Objective: To investigate whether human short interspersed nuclear element antisense RNA (Alu antisense RNA; Alu asRNA) could delay human fibroblast senescence and explore the underlying mechanisms.
Methods: We transfected Alu asRNA into senescent human fibroblasts and used cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), reactive oxygen species (ROS), and senescence-associated beta-galactosidase (SA-β-gal) staining methods to analyze the anti-aging effects of Alu asRNA on the fibroblasts. We also used an RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) method to investigate the Alu asRNA-specific mechanisms of anti-aging.
Background: Nitrous oxide (NO) is an increasingly popular recreational drug. NO irreversibly disturbs the metabolism of vitamin B, resulting in a functional deficiency. Vitamin B is vital for myelin synthesis and its deficiency primarily produces neurological complications.

Traditionally, its cellular organization is investigated using dissected lenses, which eliminates in vivo environmental and structural support. Here, we demonstrated that two-photon fluorescence microscopy (2PFM) can visualize lens cells in vivo.

Rare-earth-doped mixed crystals have demonstrated tunable optical properties, and it is of great importance to study the structural characteristics of the mixed-crystal hosts. Herein, LuGdVO (0 ≤ ≤ 1) solid solution nanocrystals were synthesized by a modified sol-gel method, with a pure crystalline phase and element composition. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Rietveld refinement results showed that LuGdVO nanocrystals are continuous solid solutions with a tetragonal zircon phase (space group 4/) and the lattice parameters strictly follow Vegard's law.

However, the cause of the formation of petal blotch in rose is still unclear. The influence of key enzyme genes and regulatory genes in the pigment synthesis pathways needs to be explored and clarified.

Tamdy virus (TAMV) was detected for the first time in a tick-infested person from Kyrgyzstan in 1973. In this study, 276 great gerbils (Rhombomys opimus) were collected in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwestern China.

Although plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) is regarded as an effective approach for the synthesis of VG, it is still challenging to increase the growth rate and height of VG arrays simultaneously. Herein, a fluorobenzene and water-assisted method to rapidly grow VG arrays in an electric field-assisted PECVD system is developed.

Interleukin (IL) 27 is a member of the IL-12 family and is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of IL-27A and Epstein-Barr virus-induced 3 (EBI3). It plays an important role in regulating inflammation and cancer progression. IL-27A not only functions by dimerizing with EBI3 but also acts alone.

Recent research has shown that the application of algicidal bacteria is a promising method to prevent and control such harmful algal blooms (HABs), given its advantages of safety and efficiency. In this study, a strain of algicidal bacterium LD-B6 with high efficiency against was isolated from the coastal waters of Lianyungang, China.

Identification of NK cell subsets is labor-intensive and has limited utility in the clinical setting. Here, we sought to identify a surrogate marker of bladder CD56 NK cells and to test its prognostic significance.

We hypothesized that low-intensity FUS of the vagus nerve would regulate autonomic function and thus BP.17 anesthetized spontaneously hypertensive rats were treated with low-intensity FUS of the left vagus nerve for 15 min each trial.

Objective: To study the relationship between fasting plasma amino acids and obesity in the physical examination population.
Methods: A total of 1859 persons who underwent physical examination in the Second Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine from January to December 2020 were enrolled. Fasting plasma amino acids concentrations and body fat ratio(BFR) were respectively determined by ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS) and Inbody instrument.
The overall survival rate of gliomas has not significantly improved despite new effective treatments, mainly due to tumor heterogeneity and drug delivery. Here, we perform an integrated clinic-genomic analysis of 1, 477 glioma patients from a Chinese cohort and a TCGA cohort and propose a potential prognostic model for gliomas. We identify that SBS11 and SBS23 mutational signatures are associated with glioma recurrence and indicate worse prognosis only in low-grade type of gliomas and IDH-Mut subtype.

Pre-emptive scalp infiltration with dexamethasone and ropivacaine has been proven effective in previous studies but with limited clinical significance. Dexamethasone palmitate emulsion (D-PAL) is a pro-drug incorporating dexamethasone into lipid microspheres with greater anti-inflammatory activity and fewer side effects than free dexamethasone.

Therefore, the present research was conducted to explore the link of the platelet and 30-day postoperative mortality.
Methods: Electronic medical records of 18,642 adult patients undergoing craniotomy for brain tumors from 2012 to 2015 in the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program, were subject to secondary retrospective analysis.
This work developed a novel strategy for producing starch straws with desirable mechanical properties by a combination of extrusion, retrogradation, and sodium trimetaphosphate (STMP) cross-linking. The straws were prepared by first extruding starch, glycerin, and water (10:1:1) with a double screw extruder, then retrograding the resulting straws at 4 °C for 6 h, and finally cross-linking the straws. Rapid visco-analyzer profiles showed decreases in the viscosity of milled straws with increases in the cross-linking duration, perhaps reflecting a higher degree of crosslinking.

Hypoxia is closely linked to various diseases, including solid tumors. The level of nitroreductase (NTR) is usually abnormally upregulated in hypoxic conditions, which can be a biomarker of hypoxia. Herein, the first endoplasmic reticulum-targeting NIR fluorescent probe, ISO-NTR, was developed for highly selective and sensitive detection of NTR.
