Tooth loss often results in alveolar bone resorption because of lack of mechanical stimulation. Thus, the mechanism of mechanical loading on stem cell osteogenesis is crucial for alveolar bone regeneration. We have investigated the effect of mechanical loading on osteogenesis in human dental pulp stromal cells (hDPSCs) in a novel in vitro model.

Cases of phenotypic heterogeneity of cells within tumors have recently been reported. Here, we report on a patient with characteristic intra-tumor double primary metastases in the lung. This patient was a 40-year-old Korean woman who had been diagnosed with breast cancer (T1N0M0, estrogen receptor/progesterone receptor/HER2 +/+/+) and papillary thyroid cancer three years prior and underwent a complete surgical resection followed by appropriate adjuvant treatment with radiation, hormone, and radioactive iodine.

The treatment of radioactive wastewater by ultrasonic standing wave method.

The radiation hazards of radionuclide arising from the storage of nuclear weapons cannot be ignored to the operators. Ultrasonic standing wave methods can be considered as the green cleaning separation techniques with high efficiency. The application of ultrasonic standing wave methods for liquid radioactive wastes treatment requires solving many problems connected with the proper selection of the frequency and power of ultrasonic transducers, and the processing time, etc.

The methodological quality will be assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias tool.

Anti-angiogenesis participates in antitumor effects of metronomic capecitabine on colon cancer.

Inhibitory effects and potential mechanisms of capecitabine metronomic chemotherapy on colon cancer were investigated in this study. Metronomic chemotherapy with fluorouracil or capecitabine inhibited proliferation of colon cancer cells both in vitro and in vivo. Capecitabine metronomic chemotherapy demonstrated equal effects as CTX metronomic chemotherapy.

The object of the study is to identify N-glycan profiling changes associated with gastric cancer and explore the impact of core-fucosylation on biological behaviors of human gastric cancer cells. A total of 244 subjects including gastric cancer, gastric ulcer and healthy control were recruited. N-glycan profiling from serum and total proteins in gastric tissues was analyzed by DNA sequencer-assisted fluorophore-assisted capillary electrophoresis.

The chicken anemia virus (CAV), is a known member of the genus Gyrovirus and was first isolated from chickens in Japan in 1979. Some reports have also demonstrated that CAV can be identified in human stool specimens. In this study, a variant of CAV was detected using PCR with CAV-based primers in fecal samples of stray cats.

Background: Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a major source of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Since there is no specific diagnostic test or risk of progression model available for NEC, the diagnosis and outcome prediction of NEC is made on clinical grounds. The objective in this study was to develop and validate new NEC scoring systems for automated staging and prognostic forecasting.

[A comparative study of the cytotoxicity of five dental bonding agents to human periodontal ligament cells].

Purpose: To compare the cytotoxicity of 5 different dental bonding agents to human periodontal ligament cells(HPDLCs).

Methods: Primary cultured HPDLCs were exposed to different concentrations (100%,50% and 25%) of Super Bond, Clearfil SE Bond, G-Bond, Single Bond2, and Adper Easy One for different times (24 h, 48 h and 72 h). Cytotoxicity of 5 different agents to HPDLCs were observed by MTT method.

Mutation status of Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) may serve as a negative predictive marker of Cetuximab in treating colorectal cancer. The present study was to determine the role of KRAS status in EGFR antibody treatment for gastric cancer. KRAS status was clarified in SGC-7901 (wild type) and YCC-2 (G→A mutation) gastric cancer cell lines.

Urine protein biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of necrotizing enterocolitis in infants.

Objectives: To test the hypothesis that an exploratory proteomics analysis of urine proteins with subsequent development of validated urine biomarker panels would produce molecular classifiers for both the diagnosis and prognosis of infants with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).

Study Design: Urine samples were collected from 119 premature infants (85 NEC, 17 sepsis, 17 control) at the time of initial clinical concern for disease. The urine from 59 infants was used for candidate biomarker discovery by liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry.

Although cell transplantation therapy can effectively promote functional tendon repair, occasional ectopic ossification during tendon regeneration undermines its efficacy. The effect of transplanted cell types on ectopic ossification has not yet been systematically evaluated. This study compared the rate of ectopic ossification during tendon repair upon transplantation with mouse fetal fibroblasts (FFs) and their adult counterparts (adult fibroblasts [AFs]).

Randomised clinical trials (RCTs) or quasi-RCTs using a GMDZ decoction for any type of depression will be considered.

Phylogenetic and molecular characterization of chicken anemia virus in southern China from 2011 to 2012.

Chicken anemia virus (CAV) is an important pathogen that causes severe immunosuppression in young chickens. We have characterized 13 CAVs isolated from different commercial farms in southern China between 2011 and 2012. We discovered 92 variable residues compared to 37 other CAV complete genome sequences from other parts of the world listed in GenBank; these residues have not been previously observed.

Breast cancer sentinel lymph node mapping using near-infrared guided indocyanine green in comparison with blue dye.

Near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging using indocyanine green (ICG) was considered to have the potential to improve sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping in breast cancer. Herein, we performed a randomized clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness of ICG fluorescence imaging compared with blue dye imaging in SLN navigation surgery. We also analyzed lymph drainage pathways to identify targets for sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB).

Detection and characterization of nanomaterials released in low concentrations during multi-walled carbon nanotube spraying process in a cleanroom.

Release of nanomaterials was assessed in a cleanroom workplace designed for the handling of multi-walled carbon nanotubes. During the process, the nanotubes were sprayed in a chamber fitted with an exhaust duct system. The front door of the spraying chamber was completely closed, but rear end of the chamber was partially open.
