Background: Epidemiological samples provide opportunity to understand the development of mental health trajectories to better understand whether such epidemiological data can help to plan and modify service delivery for youth mental health. Variation between countries is not well understood and thus applying evidence from other countries to national strategies limits support service policy and planning. This paper examines the effects of regional characteristics on the spread of the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) during Korea's 2016-2017 outbreak. A spatial econometric model is used to determine the effects of regional characteristics on HPAI dispersion using data from 162 counties in Korea. Results indicate the existence of spatial dependence, suggesting that the occurrence of HPAI in a county is significantly influenced by neighboring counties.

This study analyzes the self-reported intake of dietary supplements (DS) and their effects on perceived health well-being from a survey with 1210 adult respondents in Korea. To account for selectivity bias from observable confounders, we use a propensity score matching (PSM) model. Our findings show that demographics, health concerns, family history of disease, frequency of hospital visits, and regular exercise are positively associated with intake of DS among consumers.

Mammalian brain glycome remains a relatively poorly understood area compared to other large-scale "omics" studies, such as genomics and transcriptomics due to the inherent complexity and heterogeneity of glycan structure and properties. Here, we first performed spatial and temporal analysis of glycome expression patterns in the mammalian brain using a cutting-edge experimental tool based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, with the ultimate aim to yield valuable implications on molecular events regarding brain functions and development. Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells are the most widely used host cell lines for the commercial production of therapeutic proteins including Fc-fusion proteins. During the culture of recombinant CHO (rCHO) cells, host cell proteins (HCPs), secreted from viable cells and released from dead cells, accumulate extracellularly, potentially impairing product quality. In this study, the HCPs that accumulated extracellularly in batch and fed-batch cultures of Fc-fusion protein-producing rCHO cell lines (DG-Fc and DUKX-Fc) were identified and quantified using nanoflow liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), followed by gene ontology and functional analysis.

Yttrium-doped ZnO (YZO) nanorods were synthesized by hydrothermal growth on a quartz substrate with various post-annealing temperatures. To investigate the effects of post-annealing on the optical properties and parameters of the nanorods, X-ray diffractometry (XRD), photoluminescence (PL) measurement, and ultraviolet (UV)-visible spectroscopy were used. From the XRD investigation, the full width at half maximum (FWHM) and the dislocation density of the nanorods was found to increase with an increase in the post-annealing temperature.

Tissue glyco-capture (TGC), a highly sensitive MS-compatible method for extraction of glycans from tissue, was combined with structure-specific nano-LC/MS for sensitive and detailed profiling of the mouse brain glycome.
