Curcumae Radix (CR) is a widely used traditional Chinese medicine with significant pharmaceutical importance, including enhancing blood circulation and addressing blood stasis. This study aims to establish an integrated and rapid quality assessment method for CR from various botanical origins, based on chemical components, antiplatelet aggregation effects, and Fourier transform near-infrared (FT-NIR) spectroscopy combined with multivariate algorithms. Firstly, ultra-performance liquid chromatography-photodiode array (UPLC-PDA) combined with chemometric analyses was used to examine variations in the chemical profiles of CR.

  • Curcumae rhizoma (CR) is a traditional Chinese medicine derived from various Curcuma species, commonly used to treat blood stagnation, but its quality control has mainly focused on chemical composition without assessing biological effects.
  • Researchers developed an effect-constituent index (ECI) to evaluate CR’s quality by measuring key active components and their biological efficacy relevant to clinical outcomes, specifically using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
  • The ECI was found to correlate significantly with CR's antiplatelet aggregation biopotencies, indicating that a thorough integration of chemical and biological assessments can better reflect the efficacy and safety of CR in treating blood stagnation.

In this study, infrared spectroscopy, high-performance liquid chromatography, and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time-of-flight-mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) technology were applied to systematically explain the Schisandra chinensis's polysaccharide transformation in configuration, molecular weight, monosaccharide composition, and anti-ulcerative colitis (UC) activity after vinegar processing. Scanning electron microscopic results showed that the appearance of S. chinensis polysaccharide changed significantly after steaming with vinegar.

is an important plant in Chinese medicine; however, there are few reports on two species of Ephedra which are distributed at high altitudes from 3000 to 5200 meters. We collected a total of 84 individuals representing five and nine populations respectively located from 3158 to 5200 meters altitude, and determined the relative content of 213 metabolites using UHPLC-MS/MS (Ultra-High-Performance Liquid Chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry). 37 Chemical compositions were annotated using the KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopaedia of Genes and Genomes) database.

The quality of traditional Chinese medicine is very important for human health, but the traditional quality control method is very tedious, which leads to the substandard quality of many traditional Chinese medicine. In order to solve the problem of time-consuming and laborious traditional quality control methods, this study takes traditional Chinese medicine Cyperus rotundus as an example, a comprehensive strategy of near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy combined with One-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) and chaotic map dung beetle optimization (CDBO) algorithm combined with BP neural network (BPNN) is proposed. This strategy has the advantages of fast and non-destructive.

In this study, CM-5 spectrophotometer and Heracles NEO ultra-fast gas-phase electronic nose were used to analyze the changes in color and odor of vinegar-processed Cyperi Rhizoma(VPCR) pieces. Various analysis methods such as DFA and partial least squares discriminant analysis(PLS-DA) were combined to identify different processing degrees and quantify the end point of processing. The results showed that with the increase in vinegar processing, the brightness parameter L~* of VPCR pieces decreased gradua-lly, while the red-green value a~* and yellow-blue value b~* initially increased and reached their maximum at 8 min of processing, followed by a gradual decrease.

The Tibetan cashmere goat is a prolific goat breed in China. In sheep breeds, natural mutations have demonstrated that the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) super family ligands, such as growth differentiation factor 9 (), bone morphogenetic protein 15 () and their type I receptor (bone morphogenetic protein receptor (), are essential for ovulation and increasing litter size. In this study, 216 female Tibetan cashmere goats were sampled, and candidate genes with fecundity traits were detected via restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and sequenced.

Among the existing criteria, the traits of Curcumae Radix (CW) rely on traditional empirical identification, and the correlation between extrinsic traits and intrinsic components hasn't been systematically studied. In this study, a spectrophotometer, HS-GC-MS, and fast GC e-nose, combined with chemometrics were used to correlate the trait characteristics and intrinsic qualities of CW and vinegar-processed CW (VCW). The overall color of VCW was dark, red, and yellow, but the powder color was similar and difficult to distinguish with the naked eye.
