Purpose: Terminal extensor tenotomy or Dolphin tenotomy, is a described treatment for the management of distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint hyperextension in chronic boutonniere deformity. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of incremental partial Dolphin tenotomy in correcting boutonniere deformity, with a focus on evaluating the improvement in DIP joint hyperextension deformity and documenting the development of iatrogenic mallet finger.
Methods: Thirty-eight fingers from 10 cadaveric hands were used.
Objectives: To describe clinical outcomes and pearls for patients with gestational trophoblastic neoplasm (GTN).
Methods: Patients with GTN treated at a referral center from 1/2006 to 12/2022 were included. Clinical characteristics, World Health Organization risk score (low-risk 0-6, high-risk ≥7), and treatments/outcomes were evaluated using summary statistics, stratified by initial treatment at a referral center versus locally.
Background: Kidney dysfunction is a common complication in septic patients. Studies have identified numerous risk factors for sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (S-AKI), yet there is wide variability in the incidence even among patients with similar risk factors, suggesting the presence of additional uncharacterized risk factors, including genetic differences. The expansion of biobanks, advances in genotyping, and standardized diagnostic criteria have enabled large-scale, hypothesis-generating studies into the genetic mechanisms underlying S-AKI.

Methods: Retrospective study of patients with sepsis employing logistic regression and linear regression to determine the independent association of colonisation with adverse outcomes.
Results: Mortality was higher in patients colonized with VRE [501 of 1937 (26%) v.
This work implements computational chemistry as a screening tool to aid in the coating and resin formulation process. Conceptual Density Functional theory (DFT) reactivity descriptors like the global chemical hardness and the dual descriptor Fukui function identify the tendency of polyester-melamine coatings to undergo electrophilic and nucleophilic attack during weathering exposure. Coatings were subjected to natural and accelerated weathering tests, with periodic infrared spectroscopy, colour, and gloss measurements to assess for the degree of changes brought about through photodegradation.

Objective: Describe symptom exacerbation and adverse events (AEs) associated with two concussion rehabilitation interventions.
Design: Cluster RCT (NCT02988596).
Background And Objectives: Expanding outpatient surgery to the increasing number of procedures and patient populations warrants continuous evaluation of postoperative outcomes to ensure the best care and safety. We describe adverse postoperative outcomes and transfer rates related to anesthesia in a large sample of patients who underwent same-day cancer surgery at a freestanding ambulatory surgery center.
Methods: Between January 2017 and June 2021, 3361 cancer surgeries, including breast and plastic, head and neck, gynecology, and urology, were performed.
Background: Screening for fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) has been identified as a promising approach to improve recognition, understanding and effective response to the unique needs of those with FASD in criminal legal settings. However, to date, there has been limited synthesis of relevant screening tools, indicators, or implementation considerations in this context.
Aims: The present review aimed to synthesise evidence and develop a conceptual framework for understanding how, when, why, for whom and by whom FASD screening tools, items and/or indicators and characteristics serve to accurately identify people with FASD in criminal legal contexts, with consideration of individual and system needs relevant to effective implementation and response.
Background: Ovarian cancer with extensive metastatic disease involving pelvic structures often requires rectosigmoid resection for complete gross resection; however, it is associated with increased surgical morbidity. There are limited data, and none in ovarian cancer, on near-infrared assessment of perfusion in rectosigmoid resections with anastomosis.
Primary Objective: To compare the rate of pelvic complications (pelvic abscesses, anastomotic leaks, and infections) within 30 days of surgery with and without near-infrared assessment of perfusion at time of rectosigmoid resection and re-anastomosis in patients undergoing cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer.
Mesoscopic carbon-based perovskite solar cells (CPSCs) are often cited as a potential frontrunner to perovskite commercialization. Infiltration, the extent to which perovskite fills the mesoporous scaffold, is critical for optimum performance and stability. However, infiltration data are usually presented as qualitative photographic comparisons of samples with extreme infiltration variation.

Methods: Patients with gynecologic cancers treated with immune checkpoint blockade between January 2013 and October 2021 who underwent procedural interventions including surgical resection, interventional radiology ablation, or radiation therapy for oligoprogressive disease were identified. Procedures performed before immune checkpoint therapy initiation or ≥6 months after therapy completion were excluded.
Purpose: Patients undergoing oncologic surgery at major referral centers frequently experience postdischarge care fragmentation, which has been associated with poor outcomes. This report describes and evaluates the outcomes of an intervention at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) to decentralize postdischarge postoperative acute care within our health care system.
Methods: In 2018, MSKCC completed the addition of six regional acute care clinics called symptom care clinics (SCCs) to existing regional outpatient clinics.
Introduction: The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) provides reimbursement for meals and snacks offered in participating centers and issues nutrition standards, including guidelines for feeding infants in childcare settings. Offering training to childcare providers participating in the CACFP is necessary to ensure compliance with nutrition standards in childcare settings.
Methods: A State Department of Education and University Extension system collaborated to develop an online nutrition training course for childcare providers.
Objective: To evaluate the theoretical impact of regionalizing cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer (OC) to high-volume facilities on patient travel.
Methods: We retrospectively identified patients with OC who underwent cytoreduction between 1/1/2004-12/31/2018 from the New York State Cancer Registry and Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System. Hospitals were stratified by low-volume (<21 cytoreductive surgical procedures for OC annually) and high-volume centers (≥21 procedures annually).
Objective: We sought to investigate the safety and feasibility of therapeutic anticoagulation for newly diagnosed venous thromboembolism among women who undergo neoadjuvant chemotherapy for the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer.
Methods: A retrospective study using data extrapolated from a prospectively maintained institutional database was used to identify all patients with ovarian cancer who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy from April 2015 through September 2018 at our institution. All patients who received therapeutic anticoagulation for newly diagnosed venous thromboembolism at initial diagnosis or during neoadjuvant chemotherapy were included.
Ceramics are considered to be candidate materials for galvanising pot bearing materials due to their excellent corrosion resistance in many molten metals. Galvanising pot roll bearings must have excellent wear resistance, and, therefore, it is important to understand the wear behaviour of prospective bearing materials. This study investigates the friction- and wear-resistant properties of select ceramics, namely, pure hBN, BN M26, AlN-BN, Macor, 3YSZ, AlO and SiN.

Purpose: We aimed to characterize the incidence of complications regarding olecranon osteotomy, looking more specifically at the type of osteotomy and the fixation construct used to repair the osteotomy.
Methods: In accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, a comprehensive search was performed. A study was included if it was an adult clinical study, a transverse or chevron olecranon osteotomy was performed, and the study explicitly states the fixation construct used to repair the osteotomy.
