The purpose of this work is to present a flexible system that supports the study of wideband underwater acoustic communications (UAC). It has been developed both to measure channels and to test transmission techniques under realistic conditions in the ultrasonic band. This platform consists of a hardware (HW) part that includes multiple hydrophones, projectors, analog front-ends, acquisition boards, and computers, and a software (SW) part for the generation, reception, and management of acoustic sounding signals and noise.

The purpose of this study is to determine the dynamic coronal HKA angle after mechanical alignment in total knee replacement using computer navigation. We conducted a pre-post design study of 71 patients with varus osteoarthritic knees on which total knee arthroplasty was performed.

This behavior is well-captured by the Two-Wave with Diffuse Power (TWDP) fading distribution, which shows great fit to field measurements in such scenarios. In this paper, we address the joint estimation of the parameters K and Δ that characterize the TWDP fading model, based on the observation of the received signal envelope.

Smaller size and weight sensors can be achieved with working frequencies shifted from audio to the ultrasonic band. At these frequencies, the fading phenomena has a significant presence in the channel behavior, and the design of a reliable communication link between the network sensors will require a precise characterization of it.
