Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized-clinical trials aims to analyze the effect of interventions incorporating surface neurofeedback techniques on self-perceived sleep quality and insomnia in patients with or without sleep disturbances.

Methods: The review was completed in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) statement and was deposited in the Prospero international prospective registry of systematic reviews (CRD42024528401). Seven clinical trials with different main outcomes but with pre-post intervention records of self-perceived sleep quality or insomnia symptoms assessed by questionnaires met our inclusion criteria, including a publication date within the last 10 years.

Mining is one of the principal economic activities in Mexico, which in addition to bringing benefits to the population, causes health and environmental problems. This activity produces a lot of wastes, but the main one is tailings. In Mexico, these wastes are disposed of in the open air, and there is no control over them, so the particles of these wastes are dispersed by wind currents to the surrounding population.

Background: Polyphenols have been shown to be effective against many chronic diseases, including neurodegenerative diseases. Specifically, the consumption of raisins, being a food rich in polyphenols, has been attributed with neuroprotective benefits. Therefore, our main objective is to evaluate the effect of including 50 g of raisins in the diet daily for 6 months, on the improvement of cognitive performance, cardiovascular risk factors and markers of inflammation in a population of older adults without cognitive impairment.

Unlabelled: The increase in life expectancy and survival time implies an increase in the possible side-effects of pharmacological treatments in patients. Cancer-related fatigue is one of these side-effects. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of a multimodal program of physical exercise and functional rehabilitation on asthenia, pain, functional capacity, and quality of life in cancer patients with cancer-related fatigue.

Introduction: Sleep problems are a growing public health concern being related, among others, to an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases or worse cognitive functioning. In addition, they can affect aspects related to personal motivation and quality of life. However, very few studies have analysed the possible determinants of sleep quality in the adult population as a whole, establishing patterns based on these determinants.

Background: The increase in the survival of oncology patients include multiple side effects as cancer-related asthenia and dyspnea, which represents a serious health problem. An implementation of the conventional clinical practice, developed through multimodal physical exercise and functional rehabilitation program intervention, may be useful in controlling dyspnoea. This study aims to evaluate the effects of a multimodal exercise and functional rehabilitation program on fatigue, pain, functional capacity, and quality of life in cancer patients with cancer-related asthenia.

Purpose: To assess whether subjects with Philadelphia negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (Ph-MPNs) show differences in the presence of vascular, cardiac or renal target organ damage (TOD) and other vascular function parameters as compared to individuals without this condition.

Methods: An observational study was conducted. Fifty-seven subjects diagnosed with Ph-MPNs used as cases and 114 subjects without Ph-MPNs as controls.

Background: Survival in cancer patients has increased exponentially in recent years, with multiple side effects caused by treatments. Cancer-related asthenia and dyspnea are among them, which represent a serious health problem, with considerable limitations and reduced quality of life. An implementation of the conventional clinical practice, developed through physical exercise, may be useful in controlling dyspnoea.

Introduction And Objectives: Our objective was to study the relationship of healthy vascular aging (HVA) with lifestyle and the components of metabolic syndrome. We also analyzed the differences between chronological age and heart age (HA) and vascular age (VA) in the Spanish adult population without cardiovascular disease.

Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study selected 501 individuals without cardiovascular disease (mean age, 55.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study assessed the impact of consuming 10 g of cocoa-rich chocolate daily for six months on blood pressure and cardiovascular health in 140 postmenopausal women, comparing an intervention group with a control group.
  • - Results showed no significant changes in systolic blood pressure or certain vascular metrics between the groups, although the intervention group experienced a small decrease in pulse pressure.
  • - Overall, while daily cocoa-rich chocolate intake had minimal positive effects on cardiovascular health, it also did not lead to any harmful effects on the evaluated health parameters over the six-month period.

This paper presents the experimental procedure to develop air lime-based injection grouts, including polymeric superplasticizers, a water repellent agent and pozzolanic agents as additives. Our research focuses on the development of grouts to improve various characteristics simultaneously by combining different additions and admixtures. Aiming to improve the injectability of the grouts, in this study, different polymeric superplasticizers were added, namely polycarboxylated-ether derivative (PCE), polynaphthalene sulfonate (PNS) and condensate of melamine-formaldehyde sulfonate (SMFC).

Article Synopsis
  • - A new grout mix using air lime and metakaolin was developed with two polymers, poly-naphthalene sulfonate (PNS) and lignosulfonate (LS), to enhance fluidity and improve performance.
  • - PNS outperformed LS in terms of adsorption and effectiveness due to its higher anionic charge and linear structure, leading to better compressive strength but slightly lower frost resistance.
  • - The study also noted that PNS led to stronger grouts but reduced frost resistance, while LS could be a better option for grouts needing higher resistance to magnesium sulphate attacks due to its preservation of portlandite.

Background And Objective: The estimation of cardiovascular risk (CVR) with scores at 30 years old has a special interest in reclassifying in a suitable way <60 year subjects with intermediate CVR. This study analyzes what percentage of patients with intermediate CVR included in the MARK study is reclassified by applying the 30-year Framingham score (FS30). It also analyzes the degree of agreement between the two equations to classify high risk subjects.

Background And Objective: The last few years have seen the appearance many mobile applications aimed at improving health, but studies analyzing their effectiveness on cardiovascular risk factors (CVRFs) are few and far between. Our aim was to assess the effect on CVRFs such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes and global CVR, of adding the use of a smartphone app to an intervention consisting of standard counseling on physical activity and the Mediterranean diet.

Method: This is a multicenter, randomized and controlled clinical trial.

Background: More alternatives are needed for recording people's normal diet in different populations, especially adults or the elderly, as part of the investigation into the effects of nutrition on health.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the estimated values of energy intake, macro- and micronutrient, and alcohol consumption gathered using the EVIDENT II smartphone app against the data estimated with a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) in an adult population aged 18 to 70 years.

Methods: We included 362 individuals (mean age 52 years, SD 12; 214/362, 59.

Background: The validation of new blood pressure devices with easier use and more rapid data collection may facilitate the incorporation of these measures into clinical practice. We analyze the reliability and validity of Pulse Wave Analysis as reported by a novel wrist-worn device, easy and quick to use, comparing central and peripheral augmentation index (AIx) with the same measures from the SphygmoCor. Additionally, we analyzed clinical relevance through the association of the Pulse Wave Analysis, as reported by a novel wrist-worn device, with other cardiovascular parameters.
