Studies indicate that splenic volume (SV) might be decreased in conditions like celiac disease (CD), refractory CD type II (RCD II), and enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma (EATL).
The research involved a large cohort of 77 CD patients, 29 RCD II patients, 24 EATL patients, and 149 healthy controls, assessing SV using CT scans.
Results show that SV is significantly larger in uncomplicated CD patients compared to controls, while RCD II patients have a notably smaller SV, which may reflect their immune-compromised status.
