Background & Aims: COVID-19 is a hypercatabolic disease with possible pulmonary and gastrointestinal symptoms, and consequent deterioration of the nutritional status and the worst clinical prognosis. This study presents a protocol to guide the nutritional care of adult and elderly people non-critically and critically ill with COVID-19.
Methods: A critical review of the literature was carried out in the databases PubMed, Scielo, Bireme, and Science Direct, in search of articles and guidelines that presented assessment criteria and nutritional conduct for COVID-19 and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), as well as guidelines for managing the symptoms presented by patients.
Background & Aims: This longitudinal, qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study aimed to identify and understand the food preferences and aversions arising from hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), chemotherapy, and/or radiotherapy treatment.
Methods: An open and individual interview was carried out with patients diagnosed with hematological diseases or cancer, submitted to HSCT, chemotherapy, and/or radiotherapy treatment. The participants answered the following questions: "Have you experienced any changes in taste since the beginning of radiotherapy/chemotherapy?"; "Have you experienced any strange taste in your mouth, aversion or preference for a certain food that did not exist before the beginning of radiotherapy/chemotherapy?" Processed and ultra-processed foods (UPF) consumption has been associated with development of noncommunicable chronic diseases (NCD). This systematic review aims to summarise and discuss evidence of the relationship between food consumption according to degree of food processing and cardiometabolic risk. Data search was conducted in databases as PubMed, Bireme and Science Direct until July 2018.
