Vincristine Sulfate Liposome Injection with Bendamustine and Rituximab as First-Line Therapy for B-Cell Lymphomas: A Phase I Study.

Background: We conducted an investigator-initiated, phase I trial of vincristine sulfate liposomal injection (VSLI) in combination with bendamustine and rituximab (BR) for indolent B-cell (BCL) or mantle cell lymphoma.

Methods: Participants received 6 cycles of standard BR with VSLI at patient-specific dose determined by the Escalation with Overdose Control (EWOC) model targeting 33% probability of dose-limiting toxicity (DLT). Maximum tolerated dose (MTD) was the primary endpoint; secondary endpoints included rates of adverse events (AEs), overall response rate (ORR), and complete response (CR).

Complete genome sequence of Xanthomonas phage RiverRider, a novel N4-like bacteriophage that infects the strawberry pathogen Xanthomonas fragariae.

Xanthomonas phage RiverRider is a novel N4-like bacteriophage and the first phage isolated from the plant pathogen Xanthomonas fragariae. Electron microscopy revealed a Podoviridae morphology consisting of isometric heads and short noncontractile tails. The complete genome of RiverRider is 76,355 bp in length, with 90 open reading frames and seven tRNAs.

Vibration as an adjunct to exercise: its impact on shoulder muscle activation.

Purpose: There is an interest within elite sport in understanding the impact of a vibrating platform as an adjunct to exercise in the training and rehabilitation of throwing athletes. However, there has been no comprehensive evaluation of its impact on the rotator cuff muscles or its effect on the timing of shoulder muscle recruitment more globally.

Methods: Twenty healthy participants were recruited with EMG recorded from 15 shoulder girdle muscles.

Muscular fatigue impacts on normal shoulder function, which is particularly pertinent to throwing athletes. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between grip strength and shoulder muscle fatigue to evaluate the role of grip strength as a surrogate measure for upper limb performance. Twenty healthy participants were recruited.

Posaconazole Plasma Monitoring in Immunocompromised Children.

Plasma posaconazole exposure was assessed in 13 children who underwent a hematopoietic stem cell transplant. The median dosage was 12.5 mg/kg per day, divided into 3 doses.

Parenteral nutrition-associated liver disease: a retrospective study of ursodeoxycholic Acid use in neonates.

Objectives: To verify the effect of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) on the duration of neonatal parenteral nutrition-associated liver disease.

Methods: Retrospective cohort study of neonates in intensive care between 2004 and 2007 presenting with parenteral nutrition-associated liver disease.

Results: Of 118 eligible infants, 64 received UDCA.

Here we report the discovery of two novel chicken beta-defensins, gallinacin (Gal)-11 and Gal-12, found by hidden Markov model profile searching of the chicken genome. We have sequenced the genes and elucidated the 3'UTR of Gal-11.
