Research imaging in healthy and clinical youth populations yields incidental findings that require a management strategy. Our primary objective was to document the frequency and nature of incidental findings within a research group integrating multiple imaging modalities. A second objective was to describe the evolution of an approach to handling incidental findings.

There is growing recognition of the importance of comorbid eating disorders (ED) among individuals with bipolar disorder (BD). However, most studies on this topic have focused on adult samples, and little is known regarding comorbid ED among youth with BD. The sample included 197 youth with BD (BD-I, BD-II, or BD-NOS [not otherwise specified]), aged 13-20 years and recruited from a subspecialized clinic within a tertiary academic health sciences center from 2009 to 2017.

Background: There are several gaps in the literature on the link between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and substance use, including the impact of less direct forms of abuse, such as witnessing domestic violence, and the role of gender as a moderator of the relationship.

Objectives: To estimate associations between three types of ACEs (sexual abuse, physical abuse, and exposure to parental domestic violence), when mutually adjusted, and two substance dependence outcomes (alcohol and drug dependence), while considering the potential moderating role of gender and the effects of a range of potential explanatory factors.

Methods: Secondary analysis of the nationally representative Canadian Community Health Survey-Mental Health (2012) using logistic regression (n = 21,554).
