Emotion regulation research has routinely pitted the antecedent-focused strategy of cognitive reappraisal against the response-focused strategy of expressive suppression. This research has largely yielded that reappraisal is an effective strategy by which to change emotional experience, but implications of expressive suppression are not as clear. This may be due to variations in experimental methodologies, which have not consistently evaluated suppression against a within-subject control condition, as well as conceptual limitations that have muddled the implications of significant findings.

A low temperature atomic layer deposition (ALD) process for PbOwas developed using bis(1-dimethylamino-2-methyl-2-propanolate)lead(II), Pb(DMAMP), and Oas the reactants, with a high growth rate of 2.6 Å/cycle. PbOreadily reduces under low oxygen partial pressures at moderate temperatures making it challenging to deposit ALD PbOfrom Pbprecursors.

Objective: This report uses data from the National Health Interview Survey and National Health Interview Survey-Teen to estimate the prevalence of self-reported social and emotional support among teenagers ages 12-17 years, describe differences in health and well-being outcomes by level of support received, and compare teen- and parent-reported estimates for social and emotional support overall and by selected teen and family characteristics.

Methods: The percentage of teenagers who self-reported always or usually receiving social and emotional support by selected demographic characteristics, and potential differences in health outcomes by level of support, were estimated using data from the National Health Interview Survey-Teen collected from July 2021 through December 2022. In addition, data from the same time period from the National Health Interview Survey were used to compare parent-reported estimates of their teenager's social and emotional supports with the teenager's self-reported estimates.

With brain structure and function undergoing complex changes throughout childhood and adolescence, age is a critical consideration in neuroimaging studies, particularly for those of individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions. However, despite the increasing use of large, consortium-based datasets to examine brain structure and function in neurotypical and neurodivergent populations, it is unclear whether age-related changes are consistent between datasets and whether inconsistencies related to differences in sample characteristics, such as demographics and phenotypic features, exist. To address this, we built models of age-related changes of brain structure (regional cortical thickness and regional surface area; N = 1218) and function (resting-state functional connectivity strength; N = 1254) in two neurodiverse datasets: the Province of Ontario Neurodevelopmental Network and the Healthy Brain Network.

Background: Sacubitril/valsartan is one of the main foundational medications in heart failure (HF), and recent data show that it provides a mortality benefit in this patient population. Some of the main safety concerns associated with this drug class include hypotension, hyperkalemia, angioedema, and acute kidney injury (AKI). Other studies have focused on sacubitril/valsartan effects on blood glucose levels, which is a newer concept that has not been as researched.

Article Synopsis
  • Autism and ADHD are complex neurodevelopmental disorders with overlapping features, but they are rarely studied together, especially regarding sex differences.
  • The study utilized a large neuroimaging dataset to analyze cortical anatomy linked to autism and ADHD, revealing specific patterns in brain structure for each condition.
  • Findings showed that autism presented with greater cortical thickness in specific areas, while ADHD had more global increases in thickness but lower volume and surface area; also, unique patterns were observed in individuals with both conditions.

Objectives: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most common neurodevelopmental condition and is characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Research suggests that some populations, such as females and individuals with high intelligence quotients may be a risk for late ADHD diagnosis and subsequent treatment. Our goal is to advance our understanding of ADHD diagnosis, by examining (1) how child sex and cognitive abilities together are related to the age of diagnosis and (2) whether symptom presentation, current internalizing and externalizing symptoms, and demographic factors are related to age of diagnosis.

Background: Vasopressors traditionally are administered via central access, but newer data suggest that peripheral administration may be safe and may avoid delays and complications associated with central line placement.

Research Question: How commonly are vasopressors initiated through peripheral IV lines in routine practice? Is vasopressor initiation route associated with in-hospital mortality?

Study Design And Methods: This retrospective cohort study included adults hospitalized with sepsis (November 2020-September 2022) at 29 hospitals in the Michigan Hospital Medicine Safety Consortium, a Collaborative Quality Initiative sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. We assessed route of early vasopressor initiation, factors and outcomes associated with peripheral initiation, and timing of central line placement.
