This study evaluated the prevalence, incidence, and economic burden of NPEs among people living with HIV-1 who were newly treated with INI- or PI-based regimens in a Medicaid population. A retrospective cohort study was conducted using administrative claims from the IBM MarketScan Multi-State Medicaid Database (January 1, 2014-December 31, 2018).

Due to the increased incidence and recurrence of Clostridium difficile infection, health care providers are seeking new and alternative treatments to the standard antibiotic therapy. The objective of this article is to present a review on the background, microbiologic efficacy, clinical efficacy, and safety of fecal microbiota transplantation and to provide an overview of emerging treatment options currently under investigation. Emerging treatment options discussed include the use of monoclonal antibodies directed against toxins A and B, C difficile vaccination, and transplantation of nontoxigenic C difficile strains.

Humans have the ability to attentionally select the most relevant visual information from their extrapersonal world and to retain it in a temporary buffer, known as visual short-term memory (VSTM). Research suggests that at least two non-contiguous items can be selected simultaneously when they are distributed across the two visual hemifields. In two experiments, we show that attention can also be split between the left and right sides of internal representations held in VSTM.

Purpose: Ischemic preconditioning has been shown to influence flap tolerance to prolonged ischemia. Nitric oxide (NO) synthesis is one of the proposed mechanisms involved in ischemic preconditioning. In this study, the molecular marker of NO is examined in correlation with ischemic preconditioning on improving muscle flap survival.
