ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is a significant source of morbidity and mortality. Despite guideline-driven management and increased awareness of social determinants of health, there are persistent disparities in diagnosis, management, and outcomes. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has greatly affected emergency department visitation, conditions and throughput.

A 51-year-old female with prior history of ventriculoperitoneal shunt presented with worsening abdominal distension. Her abdomen was diffusely tender and firm with a slight fluid wave. CT imaging with IV contrast was notable for a large cystic lesion in the abdominal cavity with the differential of CSF pseudocyst versus ovarian mass.

Emergency department bounceback characteristics for patients diagnosed with COVID-19.

Background: The global healthcare burden of COVID-19 continues to rise. There is currently limited information regarding the disease progression and the need for hospitalizations in patients who present to the Emergency Department (ED) with minimal or no symptoms.

Objectives: This study identifies bounceback rates and timeframes for patients who return to the ED due to COVID-19 after initial discharge on the date of testing.

Impact of neonatal NOS-1 inhibitor exposure on neurobehavioural measures and prefrontal-temporolimbic integration in the rat nucleus accumbens.

Nitric oxide (NO) is a gaseous neurotransmitter that plays a significant role in the establishment and refinement of functional neural circuits. Genetic and post-mortem studies have suggested that neuronal NO synthase (NOS-1) activity may be compromised in frontal and temporal lobes, and related structures, in schizophrenia. The goal of this study was to determine if there is a link between neonatal disruptions in NO signalling and disturbances in the development and function of prefrontal-temporolimbic circuits.
