Major depression disorder (MDD) limits psychosocial functioning and quality of life. One of the biological alterations is a hippocampal volume (HV) reduction. Previous prospective neuroimaging studies present inconsistencies regarding HV reductions and clinical features and response of antidepressant treatment of the participants.
