Article Synopsis
- A pilot study evaluated the effectiveness of transcutaneous electric acupoint stimulation (TEAS) in helping inpatients detox from opioids using buprenorphine-naloxone.
- Participants (N = 48) received either active TEAS or a sham treatment over multiple sessions, with active TEAS delivering a higher intensity of stimulation.
- Results showed that those receiving active TEAS were significantly less likely to use drugs after discharge (35% vs. 77%) and experienced better improvements in pain and physical health compared to those who had sham treatment.
