Article Synopsis
  • Olecranon bursitis causes inflammation of the bursa and can be treated conservatively, but some cases may require surgery, which has not been extensively studied for outcomes.
  • This study analyzed data from 61 patients who underwent olecranon bursa excision, assessing both septic and aseptic cases, and found significant improvements in physical health scores for the aseptic group but not the septic group post-surgery.
  • Postoperative complication rates were 29.5%, mostly in the aseptic group, without substantial changes in elbow range of motion, though a higher percentage of patients achieved full range of motion after the procedure.
