Objectives: This study evaluates the impact of liver steatosis on the discriminative ability for liver fibrosis and inflammation using a novel Dixon water-only fat-corrected Look-Locker T1 mapping sequence, compared with a standard shortened Modified Look-Locker Inversion Recovery (shMOLLI) sequence, with the aim of overcoming the limitation of steatosis-related confounding in liver T1 mapping.

Materials And Methods: 3 T magnetic resonance imaging of the liver including the 2 T1 mapping sequences and proton density fat fraction (PDFF) was prospectively performed in 24 healthy volunteers and 38 patients with histologically proven liver fibrosis evaluated within 90 days of liver biopsy. Paired Mann-Whitney test compared sequences between participants with and without significant liver steatosis (PDFF cutoff 10%), and unpaired Kruskal-Wallis test compared healthy volunteers to patients with early (F0-2) and advanced (F3-4) liver fibrosis, as well as low (A0-1) and marked (A2-3) inflammatory activity.

To determine the diagnostic performance of simulated reduced-dose chest CT scans regarding pulmonary T1 tumors and assess the potential impact on patient management, a repository of 218 patients with histologically proven pulmonary T1 tumors was used. Virtual reduced-dose images were simulated at 25%- and 5%-dose levels. Tumor size, attenuation, and localization were scored by two experienced chest radiologists.

The AGFAD (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Forensische Alterdiagnostik, Study Group on Forensic Age Diagnostics) has published several recommendations regarding both technical aspects of computed tomography (CT) of the medial clavicular epiphysis (MCE) and the process of reading and interpreting the CT images for forensic age estimations (FAE). There are, however, no published recommendations regarding CT scan protocols and no dose reference values for CT of the MCE. The objective of this analysis was to assess adherence to AGFAD recommendations among practitioners of FAE and analyse reported dose-relevant CT scan parameters with the objective of helping to establish evidence-based dose reference values for FAE.

Despite current recommendations, there is no recent scientific study comparing the influence of CT reconstruction kernels on lung pattern recognition in interstitial lung disease (ILD).To evaluate the sensitivity of lung (i70) and soft (i30) CT kernel algorithms for the diagnosis of ILD patterns.We retrospectively extracted between 15-25 pattern annotations per case (1 annotation = 15 slices of 1 mm) from 23 subjects resulting in 408 annotation stacks per lung kernel and soft kernel reconstructions.

Peak post-operative cardiac troponin T (cTnT) independently predicts mid- and long-term outcome of cardiac surgery patients. A few studies however have reported two peaks of cTnT over the first 48-72 h following myocardial reperfusion. The aim of the current study was to better understand underlying reasons of these different cTnT profiles and their possible relevance in terms of clinical outcome.
