Eugenol is an aromatic molecule found in several plants and widely used in dentistry for analgesic and antiseptic purposes. It inhibits pro-inflammatory mediators including nitric oxide synthase, cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase. It also regulates ion channels involved in pain signaling, such as TRPV1 receptor, high-voltage-activated Ca(2+) channels, NMDA receptor and GABA(A) receptor.

MRI demonstrated T2 prolongation and restricted diffusion involving the splenium of the corpus callosum and bilateral frontal white matter neurological signs and symptoms were mild, and the recovery was complete within a week. Follow-up MRI performed one month later revealed complete resolution of the lesions.

The traditional views are of point-to-point representations of each finger to neurons located in the precentral gyrus of the motor cortex such that the neurons of the radial fingers are located laterally and those of the ulnar fingers are located medially. To examine whether this impaired perception of dyspnea in patients with acute asthma could be corrected by anti-asthma therapy, the medical records of 104 consecutive asthma patients who had been hospitalized as a result of asthma attacks were analyzed retrospectively. During the course of treatment with conventional asthma medications, the forced expiratory volume in 1s (FEV1) and the Borg scale-based dyspnea perception scores during breathing through an inspiratory muscle trainer were measured at least twice.
