Background: The demand for orthodontic treatment using clear aligners has been gradually increasing because of their superior esthetics compared with conventional fixed orthodontic therapy. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the compressive strength of three-dimensional direct printing aligners (3DPA) with that of conventional thermo-forming aligners (TFA) to determine their clinical applicability. In the experimental group, the 3DPA material TC-85 (TC-85 full) was used to create angular protrusions called rectangular pressure areas (RPA).

Background: Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease with drastically altered astrocytic metabolism. Astrocytic GABA and HO are associated with memory impairment in AD and synthesized through the Monoamine Oxidase B (MAOB)-mediated multi-step degradation of putrescine. However, the enzymes downstream to MAOB in this pathway remain unidentified.

The Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor (Nrf2)/ Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) pathway, known for its significant role in regulating innate antioxidant defense mechanisms, is increasingly being recognized for its potential in neuroprotection studies. Derived from bee venom, melittin's neuroprotective effects have raised interest. This study confirmed that melittin specificity upregulated the weakened Nrf2/HO-1 signaling in mice brain.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study aimed to determine if tegoprazan is as effective as lansoprazole in healing erosive esophagitis (EE) within four weeks, with a specific focus on rapid mucosal healing and symptom relief by week two.
  • - In a randomized trial of 218 patients, results showed that tegoprazan had significantly higher healing rates compared to lansoprazole at both two weeks (88.4% vs. 82.6%) and four weeks (95.2% vs. 86.2%).
  • - The findings suggest that tegoprazan is superior to lansoprazole for treating EE, but more research is needed to fully understand its advantages, especially for severe cases

  • The early microbiota in newborns is essential for their immune system and overall health, influencing physiological, metabolic, and neurological functions.
  • The study included a cohort of 73 mothers and 87 neonates, along with a larger retrospective cohort, to explore factors affecting the neonatal oral microbiome diversity, especially focusing on mother-to-newborn microbial transmission.
  • Findings indicated that birth type significantly impacts microbiome diversity, with preterm infants showing less diversity and a higher presence of harmful bacteria, which could have important health implications for their development.

  • - Angiomyofibroblastoma (AMFB) is a very rare benign tumor found in the lower genital tract, mainly affecting premenopausal women and usually requires surgical removal.
  • - A unique case involved a 51-year-old woman with breast cancer who had a large pelvic mass, which turned out to be AMFB in the uterus, confirmed through histopathology and immunohistochemical analysis.
  • - This case emphasizes the need for accurate diagnosis of AMFB, as it can mimic other tumors like aggressive angiomyxoma, and suggests potential connections with uterine myomas that need further research.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate a deep learning model to classify amyloid plaque deposition in the brain PET images of patients suspected of Alzheimer's disease.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on patients who were suspected of having a mild cognitive impairment or dementia, and brain amyloid 18 F florapronol PET/computed tomography images were obtained from 2019 to 2022. Brain PET images were visually assessed by two nuclear medicine specialists, who classified them as either positive or negative.

Background: Hypoxia-regulated proteins (HIF-1α and GLUT-1) have been identified as prognostic markers in various cancers; however, their role in endometrial cancer remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate HIF-1α and GLUT-1 expression in endometrial cancer and correlate their expression with clinicopathological features.

Materials And Methods: A tissue microarray (TMA) was constructed using specimens from a retrospective cohort of 51 endometrial cancer patients who underwent hysterectomy at the Gyeongsang National University Hospital between 2002 and 2009.

Introduction: The rapid spread of COVID-19 worldwide within 2 months demonstrated the vulnerability of the world's population to infectious diseases. In 2015, the Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (GLASS) was launched to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR). However, there has been no comprehensive assessment of the decade-long global battle against AMR based on GLASS data.

Background: Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury (HIBI) is a significant contributor to neonatal mortality and long-term neurodevelopmental disability, characterized by massive neuronal loss and reactive astrogliosis. Current therapeutic approaches for neonatal HIBI have been limited to general supportive therapy because of the lack of methods to compensate for irreversible neuronal loss. This study aimed to establish a feasible regenerative therapy for neonatal HIBI utilizing in vivo direct neuronal reprogramming technology.

Purpose: Laparoscopic proximal gastrectomy with double-tract reconstruction (LPG-DTR) expectedly results in improved nutritional status and less body weight loss than conventional total gastrectomy in upper-third gastric cancer. This study aimed to investigate the food passage patterns following LPG-DTR and its effect on nutritional outcomes up to 1 year after surgery.

Methods: This prospective cohort study recruited 10 patients with early gastric cancer scheduled for LPG-DTR.
