Background: The primary treatment for cervical insufficiency is cervical cerclage (mechanical support) with vaginal progesterone (biochemical support). Cerclage is a surgical procedure that mechanically increases the tensile capacity of the cervix. Therefore, it is necessary to analyse the effects of cerclage from a mechanical point of view.

Enhancing English Proficiency in Korean Schoolchildren with Problematic Behaviors: Efficacy of Digital Game-Based Learning.

Language learning through computer games has been suggested to enhance language abilities compared with traditional learning methods. Training in language skills may also improve self-control and reduce problematic behaviors in children and adolescents. We hypothesized that computer game-based language training could be more effective than classical language instruction.

Red beetroots, rich in betanin, may act as prebiotics and impact gut microbiota. Because the human gut microbiota is unique to each person, the effectiveness of prebiotics varies with the enterotype. In this study, we hypothesized that the effects of red beetroot powder (RP) and betanin pigment (BP) would differ depending on the enterotype.

An Integrated Review of Transitional Care for Families of Pre-Term Infants.

This study was conducted to identify the key elements of transitional care for families with pre-term infants in South Korea. We used an integrative review methodology proposed by Whittemore and Knafle. During the problem identification step, the review question was constructed via the population, intervention, outcome, and timeframe (PIOT) format.

Treatment outcomes and healthcare resource utilization in critically ill COVID-19 patients in Korea: A nationwide multicenter cohort study.

COVID-19 pandemic was accompanied by many healthcare-related issues. Concrete national data regarding the care performance of critical ill cases of COVID-19 does not exist in Korea. The current study aimed to describe the treatment outcome and healthcare resource utilization of critically ill COVID-19 patients.

Currently, the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is yet to be determined, alternatively, flavonoids or alkaloids from nature have been considered as significant mediators against HCC. In the scenario, we pioneered the most significant agent(s) in either flavonoid(s) or alkaloid(s) against HCC with cheminformatics, bioinformatics, computer screening tools and quantum chemistry concept. In prospect, the intent was to provide the theoretical scaffold in the myriad natural organic molecules.

Entanglement witness and nonlocality in confidence of measurement from multipartite quantum state discrimination.

We consider multipartite quantum state discrimination and provide a specific relation between the properties of entanglement witness and quantum nonlocality inherent in the confidence of measurement. We first provide the definition of the confidence of measurement as well as its useful properties for various types of multipartite measurement. We show that globally-maximum confidence that cannot be achieved by local operations and classical communication strongly depends on the existence of a certain type of entanglement witness.

Clinical impact of a multimodal pain management protocol for loop ileostomy reversal.

Purpose: As introduced, multimodal pain management bundle for ileostomy reversal may be considered to reduce postoperative pain and hospital stay. The aim of this study was to evaluate clinical efficacy of perioperative multimodal pain bundle for ileostomy.

Overweight as a biomarker for concomitant thyroid cancer in patients with Graves' disease.

The incidence of concomitant thyroid cancer in Graves' disease varies and Graves' disease can make the diagnosis and management of thyroid nodules more challenging. Since the majority of Graves' disease patients primarily received non-surgical treatment, identifying biomarkers for concomitant thyroid cancer in patients with Graves' disease may facilitate planning the surgery. The aim of this study is to identify the biomarkers for concurrent thyroid cancer in Graves' disease patients and evaluate the impact of being overweight on cancer risk.

Long-acting cilostazol versus isosorbide mononitrate for patients with vasospastic angina: a randomized controlled trial.

Background: Cilostazol has a vasodilatory function that may be beneficial for patients with vasospastic angina (VSA). We conducted a randomized, open-label, controlled trial to compare the efficacy and safety of long-acting cilostazol and isosorbide mononitrate (ISMN) for VSA.

Methods: The study included patients with confirmed VSA between September 2019 and May 2021.

Cost-Utility Analysis of Early Detection with Ultrasonography of Differentiated Thyroid Cancer: A Retrospective Study on a Korean Population.

Backgruound: There is debate about ultrasonography screening for thyroid cancer and its cost-effectiveness. This study aimed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of early screening (ES) versus symptomatic detection (SD) for differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) in Korea.

Methods: A Markov decision analysis model was constructed to compare the cost-effectiveness of ES and SD.

Cost-effectiveness of intraoperative neural monitoring of recurrent laryngeal nerves in thyroid lobectomy for papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Purpose: Recurrent laryngeal nerve injury after thyroid surgery may cause vocal cord palsy (VCP), which leads to unexpected additional costs. In recent years, intraoperative neural monitoring (IONM) has been used to lower the incidence rate of VCP. This study aimed to analyze postoperative management costs for patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).
