Background: There are few studies on the use of a mechanical chest compression (meCC) device during transport in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).
Objective: The aim of our study was to compare the performance of an meCC device with that of manual chest compression during transport after OHCA.
Methods: This study used data from the national cardiac arrest registry of patients with OHCA of presumed cardiac etiology.
Aim: To explore the factors related to the probability of inter-hospital transfer to a heart attack centre in patients with return of spontaneous circulation after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in the Republic of Korea.
Methods: This cross-sectional observational study used data from a Korean national emergency medical service OHCA database for cases between 2015 and 2017. Adult OHCA patients with a presumed cardiac origin who initially presented at a non-heart-attack centre were included in the analysis.
Objectives: The time dependence of a multi-tier response for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the time-dependent effect of EMS response type in a multi-tiered system on the clinical outcomes of OHCA.
Methods: Adult EMS-treated OHCA of presumed cardiac etiology who were not witnessed by EMS between January 2015 and December 2017 were included.
Background & Aims: There are no biomarkers of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) that are ready for routine clinical use. We investigated whether an analysis of PNPLA3 and TM6SF2 genotypes (rs738409 and rs58542926) can be used to identify patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), with and without diabetes, who also have NASH.
Methods: We collected data from the Boramae registry in Korea on 453 patients with biopsy-proven NAFLD with sufficient clinical data for calculating scores.
() is the most widely consumed herbal plant in Asia and is well-known for its various pharmacological properties. Many studies have been devoted to this natural product. However, polysaccharide's components of ginseng and their biological effects have not been widely studied.

Chromatin organization starts from a "beads-on-a string" 10 nm fiber, a basic nucleosomal structure consisting of DNA and core histones. Given its regular nucleosome array on DNA backbone where N-terminal tails of each histone are exposed on the surface of chromatin fiber, we hypothesized that chromatin can be utilized as a heterologous peptide carrier to elicit a peptide-specific immune response. The plasmid DNA containing the Widom's clone 601 sequence and the recombinant chimeric histones containing the peptide derived from ras oncogene (G12V) were used to assemble the chromatin fiber in vitro.

Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is typically highly expressed in prostate cancer, and the Glu-Urea-Lys (GUL) structure has recently received considerable attention as a key unit of PSMA-targeting agents. Additionally, one of the common characteristics of many solid tumors, such as prostate cancer, is hypoxia.

Background: Paragonimiasis is a food-borne parasitic infection caused by lung flukes of the genus . Although the most common site of infection is the pleuropulmonary area, the parasite can also reach other parts of the body on its journey from the intestines to the lungs, ending up in locations such as the brain, abdomen, skin, and subcutaneous tissues. Ectopic paragonimiasis is difficult to diagnose due to the rarity of this disease.

Methods: The study design was a cross-sectional descriptive study. The data were derived from the 2017 survey on smartphone overdependence conducted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency.
Purpose: Awareness of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is critically important for bystanders to receive early instruction of dispatch-assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (DA-CPR) as well as to call for ambulance services. This study aimed to determine the association between awareness time interval and outcomes.
Methods: EMS-treated, witnessed, adult (≥18 years old) OCHAs with presumed cardiac etiology between 2012 and 2017 were analyzed, excluding patients with unknown awareness time factors and outcomes.
Polyacetylenic compounds isolated from species are comprised of non-polar C17 compounds, exhibiting anti-inflammatory, antitumor, and antifungal activities. Panaxynol represents the major component of the essential oils of ginseng. We investigated whether panaxynol isolated from (Vietnamese ginseng, VG) could prevent cisplatin-induced renal damage induced in vitro and in vivo.

One of the side effects of this drug is its severe nephrotoxicity, limiting the safe dose of cisplatin. Therefore, many natural products have been studied and applied to attenuate the toxicity of this compound.

We aimed to investigate whether the interaction effect of TTM on outcomes after OHCA was observed among patients with and without ESRD.
Methods: Adult OHCA patients with presumed cardiac etiology who attained sustained return of spontaneous circulation from 2013 to 2017 were included using nationwide OHCA registry.
The Gleason grading system, currently the most powerful prognostic predictor of prostate cancer, is based solely on the tumor's histological architecture and has high inter-observer variability. We propose an automated Gleason scoring system based on deep neural networks for diagnosis of prostate core needle biopsy samples. To verify its efficacy, the system was trained using 1133 cases of prostate core needle biopsy samples and validated on 700 cases.

However, their distinct stability prolongs degradation, resulting in bioaccumulation in the environment which is a severe environmental issue. Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) are principal constituents in the PFCs.

Here, we have elucidated the functional mechanism of root growth inhibition by BPA in Arabidopsis thaliana using mutants, reporter lines and a pharmacological approach. In response to 10 ppm BPA, fresh weight and main root length were reduced, while auxin levels increased.

We aimed to develop forest therapy programs (FTPs) to prevent dementia and related health problems in the elderly population, with the assumption that health benefits are FTP-type specific and depend on the participant's psychophysiological traits. For this purpose, we developed two distinct FTPs, namely, a guided-breathing meditation program (BP) and a walking program (WP); we adopted the approach of Sasang constitutional (SC) medicine, which categorizes individuals into one of three SC types (SC1, SC2, or SC3) for medical care. The FTPs ran 11 sessions over 11 weeks.

However, they suffer from capacity decay and poor coulombic efficiency arising from the dissolution of long-chain polysulfides and their shuttling. A facile and scalable method was developed to directly coat a thin (≈57.

Background: Endotracheal intubation can cause focal ischemia, damage or edema to the laryngeal mucosa, and may be followed by serious complications such as vocal cord paralysis, ulcers, and granulation tissue formation. Laryngeal granuloma is rare but also a significant late complication of endotracheal intubation, and anesthesiologists should be concerned about it.
Case: We experienced four cases of laryngeal granuloma that developed after two-jaw surgery January 2017-December 2018 in our hospital and would like to report these cases with brief review of literature.
Although cytoplasmic AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) has been known as a tumor-suppressor protein, nuclear AMPK is suggested to support clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). In addition, pAMPK interacts with TGF-β/SMAD, which is one of the frequently altered pathways in ccRCC. In this study, we investigated the prognostic significance of pAMPK with respect to subcellular location and investigated its interaction with TGF-β/SMAD in ccRCC.
