Predictors of manual dexterity at 3 and 6 months after stroke: integration of clinical, neurophysiological, and neuroimaging factors.

This retrospective study aimed to predict dexterity at 3 and 6 months post-stroke by integrating clinical, neurophysiological, and neuroimaging factors. We included 126 patients with first-ever, unilateral, and supratentorial stroke. Demographic, stroke characteristics, and initial clinical assessment variables [Mini-mental state examination and Fugl-Meyer Assessment Upper Extremity (FMA-UE)] were evaluated 2 weeks after stroke.

Since electroencephalogram (EEG) is a very small electrical signal from the brain, it is very vulnerable to external noise or motion artifact, making it difficult to measure. Therefore, despite the excellent convenience of dry electrodes, wet electrodes have been used. To solve this problem, self-adhesive and conductive composites using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in adhesive polydimethylsiloxane (aPDMS), which can have the advantages of both dry and wet electrodes, have been developed by mixing them uniformly with methyl group-terminated PDMS.

The combination of osteoporosis and low lean mass correlates with physical function in end-stage knee osteoarthritis: A retrospective observational study.

We aimed to investigate the prevalence of osteoporosis and low lean mass, either together or in isolation, and their association with physical function, pain, and quality of life (QOL) in patients with end-stage knee osteoarthritis (OA). This retrospective cross-sectional observational study included 578 patients (77 males and 501 females) diagnosed with end-stage knee OA. Patients were divided into 4 groups based on body composition parameters: control, osteoporosis, low lean mass, and osteoporosis + low lean mass.

Magnetic polymer bowl for enhanced catalytic activity and recyclability.

This work introduces the fabrication of a magnetic polymer bowl for enhanced catalytic activity and recyclability, which involves the synthesis of silica-coated FeO magnetic clusters, seeded dispersion polymerization using the magnetic clusters, and transformation into a bowl-like structure a phase separation route. The additional treatment with tannic acid (TA) on the bowls allows the formation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on their surfaces. The openness and larger surface area of the bowls, as compared with those of other structured particles, such as spheres and flowers, enable a considerably higher immobilization of AgNPs, thus leading to an excellent catalytic reduction for 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), methylene blue (MB), and rhodamine B.

Effects of particle size and polymorph type of TiO on the properties of BaTiO nanopowder prepared by solid-state reaction.

Barium titanate (BaTiO) has attracted considerable attention as a perovskite ferroelectric ceramic material for electronic multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). Fine BaTiO nanopowders with a considerably high tetragonality directly influence the typical properties of nanopowders; however, their synthesis has remained challenging. In this study, we analyzed the effect of two different TiO powders with anatase and rutile phases in a solid-state reaction with barium carbonate (BaCO).

[Knowledge of Diaper Dermatitis and Diaper Hygiene Practices among Mothers of Diaper-wearing Children].

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of diaper dermatitis (DD), knowledge of DD prevention and treatment, and diaper hygiene practices among mothers with diaper-wearing children.

Methods: The participants were 176 mothers who presented to an outpatient clinic at a children's hospital with diaper-wearing children. Data were collected using a structured self-administered questionnaire.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic disease with systemic inflammation resulting in destruction of multiple articular cartilages and bones. Activated macrophage plays a pivotal role during the disease course and has been one of main targets to inhibit inflammatory reaction of RA by using biological disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs). F-FEDAC is one of PET imaging agents targeting TSPO, which is overexpressed in activated macrophages.

Reliability and validity of the korean version of the lifespan sibling relationship scale.

The sibling relationship and its potential impact on neurodevelopment and mental health are important areas of neuroscientific research. Validation of the tools assessing the quality of the sibling relationship would be the first essential step for conducting neurobiological and psychosocial studies related to the sibling relationship. However, to the best of our knowledge, no sibling relationship assessment tools have been empirically validated in Korean.
