Background: Delayed union and nonunion following foot and ankle arthrodesis is a disabling complication for patients. Background: The R3 cementless acetabular system was first marketed in Australia and Europe in 2007. Previous papers have shown high failure rates of the R3 cup with up to 24% with metal-on-metal bearing. There are currently no medium term clinical results on this cup.
