Storage and transport of reconstituted omacetaxine mepesuccinate: Considerations for home administration.

Purpose Omacetaxine mepesuccinate ("omacetaxine") is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of adult patients with chronic- or accelerated-phase chronic myeloid leukemia with resistance and/or intolerance to two or more tyrosine kinase inhibitors. In May 2014, the US Food and Drug Administration approved revisions to the packaging information that included directions for home administration of reconstituted omacetaxine by patients or caregivers using syringes filled at a healthcare facility. We developed recommendations for the transport, storage, and spill-clean procedure of reconstituted omacetaxine for home and clinic administration.
