In this study, lactic acid bacteria were isolated from 21 top-selling probiotic products on Korean market and their antimicrobial resistance were analyzed. A total 152 strains were claimed to be contained in these products and 70 isolates belonging to three genera (, , and ) were obtained from these products. RAPD-PCR showed diversity among isolates of the same species except for two isolates of from two different products.

Autoimmunity-associated neutrophilic dermatoses are a recently recognized manifestation of connective tissue diseases, in particular, lupus erythematosus. These entities are clinically and sometimes histopathologically distinct from classic neutrophilic dermatoses. We describe a case of an autoimmunity-related neutrophilic dermatosis in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis.

Mechanisms that coordinate different metabolic pathways, such as glucose and lipid, have been recognized. However, a potential interaction between amino acid and lipid metabolism remains largely elusive. Here we show that during starvation of Caenorhabditis elegans, proline catabolism is coupled with lipid metabolism by SKN-1.

SKN-1/Nrf plays multiple essential roles in development and cellular homeostasis. We demonstrate that SKN-1 executes a specific and appropriate transcriptional response to changes in available nutrients, leading to metabolic adaptation. We isolated gain-of-function (gf) alleles of skn-1, affecting a domain of SKN-1 that binds the transcription factor MXL-3 and the mitochondrial outer membrane protein PGAM-5.

Heritable variation in behavioural traits generally has a complex genetic basis, and thus naturally occurring polymorphisms that influence behaviour have been defined only in rare instances. The isolation of wild strains of Caenorhabditis elegans has facilitated the study of natural genetic variation in this species and provided insights into its diverse microbial ecology. C.
