Background: Prenatal fish intake is a key source of omega-3 (ω-3) polyunsaturated fatty acids needed for brain development, yet intake is generally low, and studies addressing associations with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related traits are lacking.
Objective: This study aimed to examine associations of prenatal fish intake and ω-3 supplement use with both autism diagnosis and broader autism-related traits.
Methods: Participants were drawn from 32 cohorts in the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes Cohort Consortium.

Materials And Methods: This is a retrospective case-control study. Micro- and macroscopic placental pathologic findings were compared for 15 COVID-19 positive and 36 negative mothers.

We sought to examine the associations between prenatal dog or cat keeping with caregiver-reported ADHD in preadolescents in the Wayne County Health, Environment, Allergy and Asthma Longitudinal Study (WHEALS) birth cohort (N = 1258).
Methods: At an interview with the caregiver at child age 10-12 years, caregivers reported if the WHEALS child had ever been diagnosed with ADHD.
Background: Few studies have identified modifiable risk factors that are associated with the prevention of preterm delivery (PTD). This study examined the relationship between PTD and physical activity during pregnancy.
Methods: Data were obtained by medical record review and postpartum questionnaires from a cohort of African American women (N = 1,410) delivering singleton infants.
Background: Novel measures of the chorionic plate and vessels are used to test the hypothesis that variation in placental structure is correlated with reduced birth weight (BW) independent of placental weight (PW), suggesting functionally compromised placentas.
Methods: 916 mothers recruited to the Pregnancy, Infection and Nutrition Study delivering singleton live born infants at >30 gestational weeks had placentas collected, digitally photographed and weighed prior to formalin fixation. The fetal-placental weight ratio (FPR) was calculated as birthweight/placental weight.
Introduction: Research suggests that autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has its origins in utero. This study examines the association between evidence of placental histopathology and ASD.

We analyzed the longitudinal relationship between maternal serum concentrations of soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt1), an important antiangiogenic factor, and uterine artery resistance in pregnancies resulting in preterm and term deliveries.
Methods: Data were collected in a longitudinal cohort study involving 278 women monitored at 6 to 10, 10 to 14, 16 to 20, 22 to 26, and 32 to 36 weeks of gestation.
It is generally agreed that placental pathology accounts for the majority of perinatal morbidity and mortality. If a placental prodrome could be diagnosed in vivo, risk for maternal or fetal complications could be estimated and acted upon before clinical symptoms are apparent. This is especially relevant in early diagnoses of gestational diabetes mellitus, which can be controlled through carefully monitored diet and activity changes.

Methods: Data stem from a cohort of 1410 black women residing in Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan, enrolled into the Life-course Influences on Fetal Environments (LIFE) study. The Daily Life Experiences of Racism and Bother (DLE-B) scale measured the frequency and perceived stressfulness of racial micro aggressions experienced during the past year.
Background: The birth weight of Black neonates in the United States is consistently smaller than that of their White counterparts. Epigenetic differences between the races may be involved in such disparities. The goal of these analyses was to model the role of IGF1 methylation in mediating the association between race and birth weight.
