Background: Tendinopathy of the long head of biceps (LHB) tendon is a common cause of anterior shoulder pain and dysfunction. The extra-articular portion within the bicipital groove undergoes frequent load and friction during shoulder movements and pathology within this area is frequently missed during arthroscopic assessment.

Methods: We quantified the arthroscopically assessable length of tendon within the shoulder in 14 consecutive patients undergoing subpectoral biceps tenodesis.

Evaluating the Implementation of the Diabetes Self-Management Program in a Rural Population.

The evidence-based Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSMP) has been shown to improve a variety of health-related outcomes, but the program has been challenging to implement in rural areas, and rural dissemination has been low. The purpose of this project was to evaluate the effect of implementing the DSMP on self-reported outcomes in a rural region. Through a collaboration with multiple partners, the Living Well program delivered 28 DSMP workshops from 2017 to 2019.

Characterization of the Proximal Long Head of Biceps Tendon Anatomy Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Implications for Biceps Tenodesis.

Background: Biceps tenodesis is a common treatment for proximal long head of biceps (LHB) tendon pathology. To maintain biceps strength and contour and minimize cramping, restoration of muscle-length tension and appropriate positioning of the tenodesis is key. Little is known about the biceps musculotendinous junction (MTJ) anatomy, especially in relation to the overlying pectoralis major tendon (PMT), which is a commonly used landmark for tenodesis positioning.

Objective: The aim of the study was to compare objectively measured physical activity (PA) between greenway users playing and not playing Pokémon Go.

Materials And Methods: A sample of 100 participants walking on a greenway wore an Omron pedometer and ActiGraph accelerometer and provided demographic data through an intercept survey during a natural experiment. Mann-Whitney U tests and multiple regression compared greenway PA variables between Pokémon Go (n = 13) and non-Pokémon Go (n = 87).

During that same period, numerous secular changes have combined to reduce the demand for physical activity in day-to-day life, and many barriers to physical activity are now evident. As a consequence, most children and adolescents do not meet the accepted public health guidelines for physical activity.

Linking Workplace Health Promotion Best Practices and Organizational Financial Performance: Tracking Market Performance of Companies With Highest Scores on the HERO Scorecard.

Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate the stock performance of publicly traded companies that received high scores on the HERO Employee Health Management Best Practices Scorecard in Collaboration with Mercer© based on their implementation of evidence-based workplace health promotion practices.

Methods: A portfolio of companies that received high scores in a corporate health and wellness self-assessment was simulated based on past market performance and compared with past performance of companies represented on the Standard and Poor's (S&P) 500 Index.

Results: Stock values for a portfolio of companies that received high scores in a corporate health and wellness self-assessment appreciated by 235% compared with the S&P 500 Index appreciation of 159% over a 6-year simulation period.

Specifically, this paper offers a rationale and justification for the framework's second step, which involves a triage process aimed to ensure that the available drug supply is utilized effectively and ethically.

Inhibition of histone methyltransferases SUV39H1 and G9a leads to neuroprotection in an in vitro model of cerebral ischemia.

Cerebral ischemia induces a complex transcriptional response with global changes in gene expression. It is essentially regulated by transcription factors as well as epigenetic players. While it is well known that the inhibition of transcriptionally repressive histone deacetylases leads to neuroprotection, the role of histone methyltransferases in the postischemic transcriptional response remains elusive.

Treatment for Osteoporosis among Women in Japan: Associations with Patient Characteristics and Patient-Reported Outcomes in the 2008-2011 Japan National Health and Wellness Surveys.

This study was conducted to identify characteristics associated with treatment for osteoporosis among women aged 50 years and older in Japan and to explore differences among patients according to treatment regimen. Data were provided by a large annual survey representative of Japanese aged 18 and older; all measures were by self-report. Women aged 50 and older who reported diagnosed osteoporosis (N = 900) were compared based on current treatment status using bivariate statistics and logistic regression.
