Background: Breast cancer-related lymphedema is a devastating condition that negatively affects the quality of life of breast cancer survivors. We sought to identify risk factors that predicted the timing and development of lymphedema.
Methods: Women with breast cancer that underwent sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) or axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) at our institution between 2007 and 2022 were identified and sociodemographic and clinical information was extracted.
Background: Machine learning (ML) is a form of artificial intelligence that has been used to create better predictive models in medicine. Using ML algorithms, we sought to create a predictive model for breast resection weight based on anthropometric measurements.
Methods: We analyzed 237 patients (474 individual breasts) who underwent reduction mammoplasty at our institution.

Background: Crouzon syndrome is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder characterized by craniosynostosis, midface retrusion, and exophthalmos. Over the past century, the treatment of craniofacial disorders like Crouzon syndrome has evolved significantly.
Methods: An institutional review board-approved retrospective study was conducted to ascertain the treatment of three individuals with Crouzon syndrome from one family, complemented with a series of literature searches to examine the evolution of craniofacial surgical history.
Chondrolaryngoplasty is a surgical procedure that reduces a prominent thyroid cartilage. Demand for chondrolaryngoplasty has significantly increased over recent years in transgender women and nonbinary individuals and has been shown to alleviate gender dysphoria and improve quality of life. When performing chondrolaryngoplasty, surgeons must carefully balance the desire for maximal cartilage reduction with the potential for damage to surrounding structures (ie, the vocal cords) that may result because of overaggressive or imprecise resection.

The healthcare system has been greatly affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The aim of this study was to compare pre-COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 payments between industry and medical providers for all surgeons and subspecialized surgeons. Payment information was obtained from the Open Payments Program database for the 2019 and 2020 reported periods for three physician groups: all physicians, all surgeons, and each surgical subspecialty.

One such feature, mostly among patients with severe COVID-19 infection, has become known as COVID-19-induced coagulopathy. Surgical patients with a history of or active COVID-19 infection bear a significantly higher risk for postoperative thrombotic complications.

Various researchers have worked to elucidate the pathogenic mechanisms underlying these variable presentations. Differences in individual responses to systemic inflammation and coagulopathy appear to be modulated by several factors, including sex steroid hormones.

The aim of this study is to compare pre- and post-COVID-19 payments between industry and medical providers for all plastic surgeons.
Methods: Payment information was collected for the 2019 and 2020 reporting periods from the Open Payments Program (OPP) database for plastic surgeons and plastic surgeon subspecialists.
Objectives: Over 400 reporting guidelines are currently published, but the frequency of their use by authors to accurately and transparently report research remains unclear. This study examined citation counts of reporting guidelines and characteristics contributing to their citation impact.
Study Design And Setting: Web of Science database was searched for citation counts of all reporting guidelines with a minimum citation age of 5 years.
Objectives: Appropriate use of reporting guidelines of health research ensures that articles present readers with a consistent representation of study relevance, methodology, and results. This study evaluated the use of major reporting guidelines.
Study Design And Setting: A cross-sectional analysis of health research articles citing four major reporting guidelines indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection (up to June 24, 2018).
