Background Context: The effectiveness of bracing with a thoraco-lumbo-sacral orthosis (TLSO) for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) has been studied extensively, with a growing body of evidence supporting TLSO use. In this study we examine the effect of wear time and other important causal factors affecting curve progression and develop a risk model that can be applied to individual patients and is based on important casual factors.
Purpose: Understand the impact of TLSO wear time and other risk factors in order to guide optimal treatment.
Each year the Royal College of Anaesthetists undertakes a national audit project of procedures and practices within the specialty that have the potential to be associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The fourth National Audit Project (NAP4), endorsed by the Difficult Airway Society, audited advanced airway management and its complications in general theatres, labour wards, critical care units and emergency departments. The NAP4 data allowed the authors to benchmark their own practice against national standards.

However, these data may not fully represent daily activity, as individuals with MS vary their speed or use a cane when walking. In this exploratory study, 11 MS participants and 13 controls walked at both maximal and preferred speed for a distance of 25-feet.
