The interface of hybrid carbon/E-glass fibres composite is interlayered with Xantu.layr polyamide 6,6 nanofibre veil to localise cracking to promote a gradual failure. The pseudo-ductile response of these novel stacking sequences examined under quasi-static three-point bending show a change to the failure mechanism.

To remove and enrich the glycosylated peptides, a solid-phase extraction method was developed, optimized, and hyphenated to liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The developed solid-phase extraction with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method was shown to possess a wide linear dynamic range (0.

To facilitate clinical studies of hop safety and efficacy, a selective, sensitive, and fast ultra-high-pressure LC (UHPLC) tandem MS method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of the hop prenylflavonoids XN, isoxanthohumol (IX), 6-prenylnaringenin (6-PN), and 8-PN in human serum.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFunctional polymorphisms in endogenous antioxidant defense genes including manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPX-1) have been linked with risk of cancer at multiple sites. Although it is presumed that these germline variants impact disease risk by altering the host's ability to detoxify mutagenic reactive oxygen species, very few studies have directly examined this hypothesis. Concentrations of 8-isoprostane F2α (8-iso-PGF2α) and 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-oxoxdG)-sensitive indicators of lipid peroxidation and DNA oxidation, respectively-were measured in 24-h urine samples obtained from 93 healthy, premenopausal women participating in a dietary intervention trial.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA rapid liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) assay was developed for the measurement of urinary 8-iso-prostaglandin F(2alpha) (8-iso-PGF(2alpha)), a biomarker of lipid peroxidation. Because urine contains numerous F(2) prostaglandin isomers, each with identical mass and similar mass spectrometric fragmentation patterns, chromatographic separation of 8-iso-PGF(2alpha) from its isomers is necessary for its quantitative analysis using MS/MS. We were able to achieve this separation using an isocratic LC method with a run time of less than 9min, which is at least threefold faster than previous methods, while maintaining sensitivity, accuracy, precision, and reliability.
