Specialty Drug Price Trends in the Federal 340B Drug Discount Program.

Background: The federal 340B Drug Discount Program provides access to significant drug price discounts for health care organizations in the United States that serve a disproportional share of disadvantaged patients.
Objective: To analyze trends over a 10-year period (2006~2016) in the price of specialty drugs, contrasting the market price with the price paid under the 340B program.
Methods: Pharmacy purchase records, including the 340B drug price and the wholesale acquisition cost (WAC), were collected from a 340B-contract pharmacy group in Southern California between 2006 and 2016.
Objective: Information concerning the treatment costs of schizophrenia is scarce in People's Republic of China. The aims of this study were to quantify health care resource utilization and to estimate the direct medical costs for patients with schizophrenia in Tianjin, People's Republic of China.
Methods: Data were obtained from the Tianjin Urban Employee Basic Medical Insurance (UEBMI) database.
Objectives: To evaluate the factors associated with nonadherence in a nationally representative sample of patients receiving lipid-lowering therapy (LLT).
Study Design: Retrospective database analysis of treatment-naive (1 year without LLT claim) hyperlipidemia patients evidenced by a new pharmacy claim for lipid-lowering therapy.
Methods: Pharmacy and medical claims data were analyzed for currently enrolled members receiving a new LLT from 2007 to 2008.
Background: Comparative effectiveness analyses using retrospective databases may be highly sensitive to common design decisions employed by researchers.
Objective: To test the sensitivity of statistical results to common research methods in retrospective database analyses. Comparisons of time to all-cause discontinuation (TTAD) across antipsychotic drug therapies are used to illustrate these effects.
