Nocardiosis in 132 patients with cancer: microbiological and clinical analyses.

Objectives: To correlate the microbiological and clinical features of infections caused by Nocardia species.

Methods: We determined the species and drug susceptibility of 138 Nocardia strains isolated from 132 patients at the University of Texas M. D.

Antimicrobial efficacy of oral topical agents on microorganisms associated with radiated head and neck cancer patients: an in vitro study.

Objective: A variety of oral topical agents have been used for prevention and management of radiotherapy-induced adverse effects. The antimicrobial nature of some of the commonly used agents is unknown. The purpose of this study was to evaluate antimicrobial efficacies of various oral topical agents on common microorganisms associated with radiated head and neck cancer patients.

Coccidioidomycosis osteomyelitis masquerading as a bone tumor. A report of 2 cases.

Background: Coccidioidomycosis involving the lung is common in endemic areas. However, it is unusual for it to present as a solitary bone lesion.

Cases: Two cases of Coccidioides immitis osteomyelitis clinically and radiographically mimicked a primary bone tumor.
