Total hip arthroplasty (THA) using minimally invasive surgery (MIS) can result in soft tissue damage during the trial reduction and actual implantation. We present a surgical technique that reduces soft tissue trauma and facilitates implant reduction while protecting the prosthetic head from scratching during MIS THA. Primary THA using MIS was performed in 16 hips through a transgluteul direct lateral approach.
