In the year of the Olympics (Paris, 2024), this issue of JORH explores nutrition and chronic care, offers a caution regarding the use of religiosity and spiritual measurement scales, and revisits the topic of COVID-19. While the latter has been rapidly declining in terms of its global impact, each of these areas of inquiry generate a great deal of research from which humanity still has much to learn.

Faith and Health in Israel, Türkiye and the USA.

This issue of JORH focuses upon faith and health within three nations that have contributed a great deal in terms of religion and health research during this century-namely Israel, Türkiye and the USA.

Temporal trends with the Evolut family of self-expanding transcatheter heart valves: A single-center experience.

Background: The Evolut self-expanding valve (SEV) systems (Medtronic), were designed to accommodate varying valve sizes and reduce paravalvular leak (PVL) while maintaining a low delivery profile. These systems have evolved between product generations, alongside valve deployment techniques changing over time.

Aims: This study aimed to examine whether these changes impacted clinical outcomes.

This issue of JORH explores a broad range of topics looking at the professions of nursing, clergy and chaplains. This issue also concludes the series on Parkinson's disease (Part 2), and for the first time, JORH presents a collation of articles relating to workplace religiosity. Finally, this issue revisits the topics of women's health and family issues in relation to religiosity and spirituality.

This issue of JORH presents a broad range of articles that consider spirituality and spiritual care from various international perspectives. It also looks at a diverse range of articles relating to mental health disorders and addictions. Lastly, this issue considers the aftermath of COVID-19.

Care of the Aged, Women's Health, and Measuring Religion, Spirituality and Health.

This issue of JORH explores various concerns related to the care of the elderly within a number of countries (namely China, India, Iran, Israel, Turkey, USA). Issues relating to Women's Health are also considered across the life span but particularly with regard to gynaecology, paediatrics, cancer, mental health and wellbeing. Research is presented on the empirical measurement of religion, spirituality and health with scales developed and/or tested in Iran, India, Haiti, Taiwan, Jordan and the Netherlands.

Medical Practice, the Church and COVID-19.

This issue of JORH explores the importance of religion and spirituality in medical practice, as well as research relating to the Church and its clergy, and finally the lingering effects of COVID-19.

Using Non-Invasive Respiratory Monitoring for COVID-19 Pulmonary Embolism Diagnosis.

With the high incidence rate of pulmonary embolism (PE) and pneumonia reported in hospitalized patients with COVID-19, the ability to determine the dominant etiology for severe respiratory distress quickly and accurately is crucial to a patient's well-being. Traditionally, D-dimer blood tests and diagnostic imaging studies would be utilized to determine the presence of a PE or a venous thromboembolism. However, COVID-19 places patients in a prothrombotic state and performing diagnostic imaging studies on all patients with COVID-19 would be impractical, making the need for a simple and reliable method to determine the likelihood of PE or venous thromboembolism a priority for emergency departments.

Christianity, Family, Students, and COVID-19.

Four substantial topics are explored in this issue of the Journal of Religion and Health, namely: (1) Christianity, (2) family and faith dynamics, (3) the spiritual and religious experiences of students from Islamic, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, and Jewish perspectives, and lastly, (4) the lingering effects of COVID-19. Remembering 9/11, Moral Injury, COVID-19 and Measuring Religion, Spirituality and Health.

Four key themes are covered in this issue of JORH, namely: (1) the catastrophic events of 11 September 2001, (2) the syndrome of moral injury, (3) the ongoing calamity of COVID-19, and finally, (4) the validation, translation and use of measurement instruments/scales assessing religion, spirituality and health.

SDF 1-alpha Attenuates Myocardial Injury Without Altering the Direct Contribution of Circulating Cells.

Stromal cell-derived factor 1-alpha (SDF) is a potent bone marrow chemokine capable of recruiting circulating progenitor populations to injured tissue. SDF has known angiogenic capabilities, but bone marrow-derived cellular contributions to tissue regeneration remain controversial. Bone marrow from DsRed-transgenic donors was transplanted into recipients to lineage-trace circulating cells after myocardial infarction (MI).
