A study on carotid artery intima-media thickness and metabolic risk factors in overweight and obese Indian children.

Introduction: Carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) serves as an early marker of atherosclerosis. Data on obesity-related risk factors and their association with carotid intima-media thickness among overweight and obese children are lacking.

Objectives: To compare CIMT of overweight and obese children with CIMT of normal BMI children.

A case of treatment-induced neuropathy in an adolescent with type 1 diabetes.

Treatment-induced neuropathy (TIN) in diabetes is an acute and painful yet completely reversible small fiber neuropathy precipitated by a rapid improvement in glycemic control. TIN is rare in children. A 16-year-old girl developed symmetrical painful neuropathy of the foot, autonomic neuropathy, and retinopathy 5 weeks after the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.

Severe hypercalcemia: A rare and unusual presentation of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Hypercalcemia is a rare and unusual complication of childhood malignancies. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) presenting with hypercalcemia and lytic bone lesions is very rare in children. Here, we report a case of a 4-year-old girl with ALL who presented with severe hypercalcemia and radiological evidence of osteolytic lesions.

Precocious pseudopuberty due to ovarian causes.

Background: It is important to differentiate central from peripheral causes of precocious puberty because of distinct management options.

Case Characteristics: 4 girls with discordant pubertal development.

Observations: All had low basal and GnRHa stimulated FSH and LH level with high estradiol level.
