Plant triterpenoids represent a diverse group of secondary metabolites and are thought to be valuable for therapeutic applications. For drug development, lead optimization, better knowledge of biological pathways, and high-throughput detection of secondary metabolites in plant extracts are crucial. This paper describes a qualitative method for the rapid and accurate identification of various triterpenoids in plant extracts using the LC-HR-ESI-MS/MS tool in combination with the data-dependent acquisition (DD) approach.

Introduction: The pathogenesis in systemic sclerosis (SSc) mainly involves vascular injury, fibrosis, and immune activation. Visualization of these microvascular changes by nailfold capillaroscopy (NFC) can help in the early diagnosis of the disease. Even though the gold standard for NFC is a videodermoscope, the ease, practicality, and accessibility make the hand-held dermoscope a more versatile and suitable device in the hands of the dermatologists in the busy outpatient department.

Uniform dispersion and high interfacial adhesion are two of the most difficult components of creating an ideally reinforced polymer composite. One of the solutions could be surface engineering of reinforcing filler materials utilizing innovative technologies. Low-temperature plasma treatments in the presence of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas are proposed as a sustainable alternative to modify the surface properties of biochar carbon synthesized from sustainable starch-based packaging waste via a high-temperature/pressure pyrolysis reaction in the current study.

  • Skin disorders are common occupational issues, especially in the fruit cultivation sector in Kashmir, where many people are employed in horticulture.
  • A study involving 701 workers found that 39.37% exhibited skin lesions, with a significant portion caused by occupational factors (34.05%).
  • Among occupational dermatoses, friction-related issues were the most common, while non-occupational issues were led by a light eruption condition and fungal infections of the nails.

Purpose: American football is considered one of the more injury-prone sports given its high-speed and high-impact nature. While much attention has been focused on chronic traumatic encephalopathy, spinal injuries represent the most common catastrophic injury incurred in football. The goal of this investigation is to describe the most common football-associated spinal lesions in a multi-center health system.

Marine waste byproducts, especially fish scales, have proved to be one of the most prominent sources for developing sustainable materials for various applications including biomedical applications. Hydroxyapatite (HAp), being one of such biomaterials that can be synthesized from the massive fish-based waste, has received plentitude of attention due to its excellent ability to promote cell growth and proliferation. However, understanding the influence of HAp on polymer matrices that are tailored for biomedical applications is still a challenge.

The objective of this review was to assess the impact of lifestyle interventions (including dietary interventions, physical activity, behavioral therapy, or any combination of these interventions) to prevent and manage childhood and adolescent obesity. We conducted a comprehensive literature search across various databases and grey literature without any restrictions on publication, language, or publication status until February 2020. We included randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies from both high income countries (HIC) and low-middle-income countries (LMICs).

Nanocomposite electrospun fibers were fabricated from poly(lactic) acid (PLA) and needle-like hydroxyapatite nanoparticles made from eggshells. The X-ray diffraction spectrum and the scanning electron micrograph showed that the hydroxyapatite particles are highly crystalline and are needle-liked in shape with diameters between 10 and 20 nm and lengths ranging from 100 to 200 nm. The microstructural, thermal, and mechanical properties of the electrospun fibers were characterized using scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), dynamic scanning calorimetry (DSC), and tensile testing techniques.
