Patients with psychogenic non-epileptic attacks (PNEA) are subject to considerable direct and indirect comorbid psycho-socio-economic impact from their condition. Fortunately, diagnosis and treatment of PNEA has shown to be both medically effective and cost-efficient, ultimately improving PNEA symptoms, mental health, quality of life, and healthcare resource utilization. Though provocation techniques for PNEA have proven highly effective in diagnosing and providing expedited treatment to these patients, they have recently begun to fall out of favor due to ethical concerns about their use.

Objective: To determine the perceived educational impact of a resident-led psychiatry research newsletter ('Research Watch') on the psychiatry residents at the authors' residency program.

Methods: An anonymous, voluntary paper questionnaire was distributed to all psychiatry residents at the program. The survey inquired about the degree of exposure (quantified as 'exposure index') and contribution to the newsletter.

Background: Major depression disorder (MDD) is one of the most common mental disorders world-wide and is prevalent throughout the lifespan, with prevalence estimates of 1-5% in those 65 years of age and older.

Methods: The aim of this mini-review is to briefly summarize clinically relevant topics within the domain of later-life MDD.

Results: The mini-review presents an overview of epidemiology, complications of late life MDD, risk factors and clinical presentation, clinical assessment, general issues relevant to the treatment of the older adult with MDD, drug treatments, discussion of how medical complexity affects drug treatment and other treatment modalities.

The overlap between inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and psychiatric disorders has been studied extensively. We reviewed the limited literature targeting the complex relationship between IBD and psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents. Findings from this review were compared with findings from available studies in adults.
