The Cu-glutathione (GSH) redox system, essential in biology, is designed here as a supramacromolecular assembly in which the tetrahedral 18e Cu(I) center loses a thiol ligand upon adsorption onto ZIF-8, as shown by EXAFS and DFT calculation, to generate a very robust 16e planar trigonal single-atom Cu(I) catalyst. Synergy between Cu(I) and ZIF-8, revealed by catalytic experiments and DFT calculation, affords CO conversion into high-value-added chemicals with a wide scope of substrates by reaction with terminal alkynes or propargyl amines in excellent yields under mild conditions and reuse at least 10 times without significant decrease in catalytic efficiency.

Therefore, improvements in heterogeneous catalysts are called for. Here, a novel type of catalyst support is proposed involving simple addition of the mixture of metal ion precursors to core-shell ZIF-8@ZIF-67, followed by reduction with NaBH, with performances surpassing those obtained using nanocatalysts in ZIF-8 or ZIF-67.

Complexes 3 and 4 were readily synthesized by reacting the diprotic fluorinated Schiff base proligand 2 with the appropriate hydrated metal(II) acetates, whereas 5 and 6 were obtained upon Stille cross-coupling reaction of 3 and 4 with 2-(tributylstannyl)-thiophene, respectively. Compounds 3-6 were isolated as neutral, air, and thermally stable-coloured solids, with yields ranging from 60 to 80%.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe have recently reported a series of neutral square planar tridentate Schiff base (L) complexes of the general formula [(L)M(py)], showing relatively high first-order hyperpolarizabilities and NLO redox switching behavior. In the present study, new members of this family of compounds have been prepared with the objective to investigate their potential as building blocks in the on-demand construction of D-π-A push-pull systems. Namely, ternary nickel(II) building blocks of general formula [(L)Ni(4-pyX)] (), where L stands for an electron accepting or donating dianionic O,N,O-tridentate Schiff base ligand resulting from the monocondensation of 2-aminophenol or its 4-substituted nitro derivative and β-diketones R-C(=O)CHC(=O)CH (R = methyl, anisyl, ferrocenyl), and 4-pyX is 4-iodopyridine or 4-ethynylpyridine, were synthesized and isolated in 60-78% yields.

Here, the study is focused on ferrocenylmethylenetriazolyl-terminated dendrimers (FcMTPD) as supports of remarkably efficient nanogold and nanopalladium catalysts. A biphasic system is elaborated to evaluate the catalytic activity of FcMTPD-supported Au and Pd nanoparticles (NPs) for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol by NaBH at 20 °C, and FcMTPD-supported PdNPs are found to be the best nanocatalysts with a rate constant k = 7.

The cyclic voltammogram of the target molecule, isolated in 77 % yield, exhibits four well separated and reversible redox events showing that 1 is thermodynamically stable with respect to disproportionation (Kc>10 ). The tetranuclear dication 1 was characterized by XRD on single crystal, IR and NMR spectroscopies and Mössbauer spectrometry.

These compounds were characterised by microanalysis, FT-IR and X-ray crystallography in the solid state and in solution by UV-vis and (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopy. The crystal structures of 3-5, 7 and 8 have been determined and show for Schiff base complexes 5, 7 and 8 a four-coordinated square-planar environment for nickel and copper ions.

The composition and identity of the complexes were deduced by elemental analysis, (1)H and (13)C multidimensional NMR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry.
