Introduction: Modifications in asymmetry in response to self-paced efforts have not been thoroughly documented, particularly regarding horizontally-derived ground reaction force variables. We determined the magnitude and range of gait asymmetries during 800 m track running.
Methods: Eighteen physical education students completed an 800 m self-paced run on a 200 m indoor track.
We assessed lower limb muscle activity during the execution of first and second tennis serves, exploring whether the extent of these differences is influenced by the chosen method for normalising surface electromyography (EMG) data. Methods: On the basis of repeated measurements, the force and displacement transducers accuracy was 1% for values ranging from 0 to 394 N and 4% for values ranging from 0 to 20 cm. In addition, measurements were not affected by magnetic field.
We previously showed that transfer of adult myoblasts (MB) into cardiotoxin-damaged muscle improved the properties of reinnervated tibialis anterior muscle of rabbits. However, this cell therapy protocol cannot be applied to humans because of the hazardous effects of the myotoxin. To circumvent this approach, we used the recently developed high-density injection technique to autotransplant cultured cells 1 mm from each other into the tibialis anterior muscle without previous cardiotoxin-induced damage.
