Death during the induction phase of chemotherapy remains a common event in patients with aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). In a series of patients with aggressive NHL homogeneously treated with intensive induction chemotherapy [ACVB (doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, vindesine, bleomycin, prednisone) regimen], we determined the clinical and biological parameters that were predictive of early death. Early death was defined as death, for whatever reason, occurring within 100 d of randomization.
