Background And Objectives: Femoral triangle block and local infiltration analgesia are two effective analgesic techniques after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Recently, the iPACK block (infiltration between the popliteal artery and the capsule of the posterior knee) has been described to relieve posterior knee pain. This randomized controlled triple-blinded trial tested the hypothesis that the combination of femoral triangle block and iPACK provides superior analgesia to local infiltration analgesia after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

Our aim was to assess the validity and reliability of the French version of the TAPES-R (TAPES-R-F).
Materials And Methods: The cross-cultural adaptation was performed according to the recommendations.
Background: Both the adductor canal block (ACB) and local infiltration analgesia (LIA) are effective analgesic techniques after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, but they have never been compared head-to-head. This randomised controlled triple-blinded trial tested the hypothesis that ACB provides superior analgesia to LIA after ACL reconstruction, with additional focus on postoperative functional outcomes.
Methods: Of 104 enrolled ACL reconstruction patients receiving general anaesthesia, 52 were randomly allocated to either ACB under ultrasound guidance or LIA.
Objective: To explore the mechanisms through which early puberty is associated with psychological distress in women aged 18-25. This cross-sectional study aims to investigate whether body-related concerns and social interactions moderate or mediate this association.
Methods: Participants were compared on measures evaluating psychological distress, body image dysphoria, bulimic symptomatology and negative intimacy with best friend according to three pubertal timing groups: (1) "very early" puberty (menarche at 9 years old or less), (2) "early" puberty (menarche at 10 years old), and (3) "on-time" puberty (menarche between 11 and 13 years old).
Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of a combined magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) - magnetic resonance venography (MRV) protocol using contrast agents with blood pool properties, gadofosveset trisodium and gadobenate dimeglumine, in the evaluation of pulmonary embolus (PE) and deep venous thrombosis (DVT) as compared to the standard clinical reference imaging modalities; computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) and color-coded Duplex ultrasound (DUS).
Materials And Methods: This prospective clinical study recruited patients presenting to the emergency department with clinical suspicion for PE and scheduled for a clinically indicated CTPA. We performed both MRA of the chest for the evaluation of PE as well as MRV of the pelvis and thighs to evaluate for DVT using a single contrast injection.

Objective: The use of cerebral near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) has become widespread in cardiac surgery after research demonstrated an association between perioperative cerebral desaturations and postoperative complications. Somatic NIRS desaturation also is associated with an increased risk of postoperative complications and mortality. As a secondary objective, we evaluated the relationship between the vascular anatomy and demographic, anthropometric, and hemodynamic data of patients.
Methods: This observational anatomical study used bedside ultrasound with 150 cardiac surgical patients in the operating room.
Background: In cardiac surgery, pulmonary hypertension is an important prognostic factor for which several treatments have been suggested over time. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we compared the efficacy of inhaled aerosolized vasodilators to intravenously administered agents and to placebo in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension during cardiac surgery. Objective: To examine the differential effects of the timing of poverty between birth and late childhood on behavior problems in early adolescence by modeling lifecourse models, corresponding to sensitive periods, accumulation of risk and social mobility models.
Methods: We used the Quebec Longitudinal Study of Child Development (N = 2120).
Background: Portal venous flow pulsatility detected by Doppler ultrasound is a sign of congestive heart failure in noncritically ill patients. The assessment of portal and splenic venous flows has never been reported in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
Methods: This is a case series performed in patients undergoing cardiac surgery between February 2014 and February 2015 in which portal and/or splenic venous flows were assessed by the attending anesthesiologist during surgery or by the intensivist after surgery using transthoracic echography in 9 patients or transesophageal echocardiography in 5 patients.
Objectives: The aim of our study was to compare the accuracy of lung sliding identification for the left and right hemithoraxes, using prerecorded short US sequences, in a group of physicians with mixed clinical and US training.
Methods: A total of 140 US sequences of a complete respiratory cycle were recorded in the operating room. Each sequence was divided in two, yielding 140 sequences of present lung sliding and 140 sequences of absent lung sliding.
Objective: The study's aim was to test prospective associations between information, motivation, and behavioral skills (IMB model) and self-care behaviors (diet, exercise, and blood glucose testing) among patients with type 2 diabetes.
Methods: 295 participants were surveyed one (T1), six (T2), and 12 (T3) months after a diabetes course. Cross-lagged panel analyses were performed to test unidirectional and bidirectional relationships between IMB model variables and self-care behaviors.
Pro-inflammatory angiopoietin-like 2 (angptl2) promotes endothelial dysfunction in mice and circulating angptl2 is higher in patients with cardiovascular diseases. We previously reported that a single bout of physical exercise was able to reduce angptl2 levels in coronary patients. We hypothesized that chronic exercise would reduce angptl2 in patients with post-acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and endothelial dysfunction.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: Inhaled milrinone (iMil) has been used for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension (PH) but its efficacy, safety, and prophylactic effects in facilitating separation from cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and preventing right ventricular (RV) dysfunction have not yet been evaluated in a clinical trial. The purpose of this study was to investigate if iMil administered before CPB would be superior to placebo in facilitating separation from CPB.
Methods: High-risk cardiac surgical patients with PH were randomized to receive iMil or placebo after the induction of anesthesia and before CPB.
Purpose: Poverty has been associated with high levels of behavior problems across childhood, yet patterns of associations over time remain understudied. This study aims: (a) to examine whether poverty predicts changes in behavior problems between 1.5 and 8 years of age; (b) to estimate potential selection bias for the observed associations.

Passive leg raising (PLR) is a validated dynamic method to induce a transient increase in cardiac preload and predict fluid responsiveness. Variations in end-tidal carbon dioxide (ETCO2) obtained by capnography correlate closely with variations in cardiac output when alveolar ventilation and carbon dioxide production are kept constant.

Methods: A sample of 295 adult patients with type 2 diabetes was recruited at the end of a diabetes education course. Glycemic control was evaluated through glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c).
