One of the main challenges in food microbiology is to prevent the risk of outbreaks by avoiding the distribution of food contaminated by bacteria. This requires constant monitoring of the circulating strains throughout the food production chain. Bacterial genomes contain signatures of natural evolution and adaptive markers that can be exploited to better understand the behavior of pathogen in the food industry.

Background/objective: As remodeling is getting more popular with patients, long-term studies are becoming necessary. The aim of this 35-month clinical study was to evaluate the long-term benefits obtained using a 1540-nm Er:glass laser for non-ablative remodeling of perioral and periorbital rhytids. The role of maintenance treatments was also investigated.

Background: Retinaldehyde has been proven to be effective in the reduction of facial wrinkles. It has also demonstrated its usefulness when used before and after laser skin resurfacing.

Objective: A monocentric, comparative, randomized, double-blind study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of retinaldehyde versus excipient in combination with non-ablative laser remodeling treatment.

Background: Nonablative remodeling has been recently proposed as a new antiaging treatment with no downtime.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of nonablative skin remodeling with a 1540 nm Er:glass laser and contact cooling on perioral and periorbital rhytides at 14 months follow-up.

Methods: Forty-two female patients (mean age 47 years), Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV were treated five times at 6-week intervals and checked 6 months after the last treatment.

GCV-ablation of transplanted TK-positive liver tumors or the application of syngenic and allogenic HSV-TK/GCV oncolysates significantly reduced the size of synchronously growing untreated sister tumors in the liver. These TK-negative liver tumors constantly showed an increased infiltration by mononuclears (x4). The relative abundance of CD 4/8, NK and monocyte subtypes remained constant.
