Background: Worsening renal function (WRF) is common in hospitalized patients being treated for acute heart failure. However, discriminating clinically significant WRF remains challenging. In patients hospitalized with acute heart failure, we evaluated if blood and urine biomarkers of cardiac and kidney dysfunction were associated with adverse outcomes.

Yet, adolescence is a vulnerable period of development and inherently dynamic, with non-linear and asynchronous progression of physical, physiological, psychological and social attributes. These non-concurrent changes within and between individuals are accompanied by irregular and unpredictable threats and impediments.

Design: Scoping review.
Data Sources: We searched the databases SPORTDiscus, APA PsycINFO, Web of Science and Sports Medicine & Education Index for peer-reviewed, published in English articles that considered the factors influencing positive developmental outcomes for athletes under 18 years competing at a national and/or international level.
Since the 1980s, research on relative age effects (RAEs) consistently shows that relatively older individuals are advantaged in sport and other contexts. With the recent proliferation of studies on RAEs, periodic knowledge synthesis becomes imperative. Our purpose was to conduct a cross-disciplinary citation network analysis of RAEs literature to enhance our knowledge of RAEs citation structures and the interconnectivity of RAEs studies.

The riboswitch has been previously shown to regulate gene expression through translation initiation and mRNA decay. Recent research suggests that gene expression is also influenced by Rho-dependent transcription termination.

Using a high-throughput Congo Red binding assay to report on biofilm matrix production, we screened ~4000 E. coli K12 deletion mutants for deficiencies in this biofilm stimulation response.

The effectiveness of transformational leadership (TFL) on various outcomes is well known. Accordingly, researchers have developed training programs to enhance TFL behaviours of leaders. Yet, no reviews summarizing the characteristics of TFL training programs exist.

The program uses elite ice hockey players as role models-through story-telling-to serve as inspirational figures to engage youth athletes and important social agents (i.e.

Aim: To determine the efficacy and safety of common diuretic combinations in critically ill patients with respiratory failure.
Methods: We searched MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library and PROSPERO for studies reporting the effects of a combination of a loop diuretic with another class of diuretic.
Background: Coaching has gained traction in postgraduate medical education to enhance interactions between residents and clinical teachers, but these relationships present unique challenges and tensions. In order to realize the promises of coaching in medical education, we must understand how coaching relationships can be enacted to optimize resident development. The purpose of this study was to explore residents' perceptions of key characteristics for effective clinical teacher-resident (CT-R) coaching relationships.

As such, this study was comprised of three aims: (a) examine the birth quarter (BQ) distribution of players throughout the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) national talent pathway (i.e.

This study involved data from two previous studies that explored this relationship yet provides a novel perspective through the lens of important moderators. Three-hundred and three athletes ( = 17.

Little research has addressed relationships among the preceding and other concerns, including time away from organized sport, sleep, and perceptions of physical and psychological well-being.
Hypothesis: There is an association between reported competitive gameplay volume and specialization, injury, and fatigue among elite youth basketball players.
This study used ecological sampling methods to examine associations between youth athletes' experiences receiving and engaging in behaviors indicative of in-group ties, cognitive centrality, and in-group affect (i.e., social identity) during a 3-day competitive ice hockey tournament.

The Dublin Acute Biomarker Group Evaluation study is a prospective cohort study of critically ill patients (n = 717). We hypothesized that novel urinary biomarkers would predict progression of AKI and associated outcomes.

Background: Chronic kidney disease following liver transplantation is a major long-term complication. Most liver transplant recipients with kidney failure will be treated with dialysis instead of kidney transplantation due to noneligibility and shortage in organ availability. In this population, the role of peritoneal dialysis (PD) as a modality of kidney replacement therapy (KRT) remains unclear.

However, there is a lack of knowledge of this relationship within elite sport settings. Thus, the purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between elite youth athletes' perceptions of coaches' transformational coaching-behaviours and variables that have been linked to transformational leadership in other settings (i.

We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the safety, clinical efficacy, and clearance efficiency of hemofiltration (HF) and hemodiafiltration (HDF) compared to hemodialysis (HD) in patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) receiving intermittent RRT.
Method: We searched Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, and PROSPERO.
Previous studies, framed within the full range leadership approach, have described how the coach's interpersonal behaviors affected athletic outcomes. However researchers have yet to explore how specific leadership behaviors (transformational vs transactional), as perceived by athletes, may affect athletes' motivation. The aim of this study was to further examine the link between coaches' leadership behaviors and athletes' motivation among high achieving adolescent athletes.

Although most risk factors are associated with chemotherapy, tumor lysis syndrome or rhabdomyolysis, occurrence following severe seizure has also been reported. Uric acid measurement following convulsion is rarely performed and, therefore, the incidence of hyperuricemia in this context is unknown.

However, the context of playing-up in academy football is yet to be empirically explored. Thus, the purpose of this study was to examine the multidimensional factors that differentiated players who play-up from those who do not.

The aim of this retrospective study was to compare the diagnostic performance of non-contrast biparametric MRI (bpMRI) with multiparametric MRI (mpMRI), for local staging of PCa.
Methods: Ninety-two patients who underwent prostate MRI on a 3-Tesla MRI system before radical prostatectomy for PCa were included retrospectively.
