Influence of pH on the release of nickel ions from fixed orthodontic appliances in artificial saliva.

Aim: The aim of this study was to make a laboratory assessment of pH influence on the kinetics of the release of nickel ions in artificial saliva.

Methods And Material: In this study, 15 basic orthodontic appliances are immersed in 15 polyethylene tubes each containing 40 ml of artificial saliva. Tubes were divided into three sub-groups of 5 tubes depending on the pH: pH 5, pH 7 and pH 8.

Diet and rate of decomposition of the corpse in a human surrogate.

The decomposition of an inert body seems to depend on the physiological, biological and physical characteristics of the corpse. The effect of these, especially of extra-biological mechanisms, on the rate of decomposition of the corpse does not seem to be sufficiently explored. The present work proposes to examine the influence of the type of feeding on the rate of cadaver decomposition in a human surrogate.

[Evaluation of motivational factors of adolescent patients for orthodontic treatment using the Q methodology].

The management of adolescents in the orthodontic practice remains a challenge in terms of motivation and adherence to treatment. Some factors seem to be of paramount importance in the success of treatment. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the motivational factors of adolescent patients seeking orthodontic treatment using the Q methodology.

Cytotoxicity evaluation of dental and orthodontic light-cured composite resins.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine the cytotoxicity of light-cured composite resins (Clearfil ES-2, Clearfil ES Flow, Filtek Supreme XTE, Grengloo, Blugloo, Transbond XT, and Transbond LR) then to assess leachable components in contact with human gingival fibroblasts (GFs) and to quantity detected bisphenol A (BPA).

Methods: Light-cured composite resin discs were immersed for 24 hours in gingival fibroblastic medium (n = 3 for each product) and in control medium (n = 2 for each product) contained in plate. Cytotoxicity of the products (n = 95) was determined by the measure of cell viability using MTT assay after reading the optical densities of the plates.

Facial photogrammetric profile measurements and sagittal dental occlusion in the young Congolese Bantu Adult (DRC).

Objective: The aim of the present study was to determine, according to the kind of dental occlusion, the profile photogrammetric characteristics of the young Congolese Bantu adult (DRC Congo).

Materials And Methods: It was a cross-sectional study, including 302 young Congolese Bantu adults (161 males and 141 females), aged between 18-30 years old. All were in full permanent dentition, out of which 157 in dental normocclusion, 74 in distocclusion, and 71 in mesiocclusion.

Relationship between Angular Measurements and Facial Shape of Young Ivorians with Normal Dental Occlusion.

Objective: The aim of this study was to perform an analysis of angular measurements (from both the full face and profile), according to shapes of the human face.

Method: It was a descriptive and cross-sectional study of 108 black Ivorian subjects. For each subject selected, two standardized photographs (full face and profile) were taken, followed by anthropometric measurements.

Angular photogrammetric analysis and evaluation of facial esthetics of young Ivorians with normal dental occlusion.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the angular photogrammetric characteristics of subjects according to the facial esthetics criteria applicable in Côte d'Ivoire.

Material And Methods: This was a horizontal study, concerning of group of young people from Côte d'Ivoire whose attractiveness and photogrammetric characteristics were assessed. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS 20.

[Military and political crises and the psycho-physical health of internally displaced persons (IDPs): the case of Côte d'Ivoire].

People displaced by conflict who remain within the borders of their country are known as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The physical and psychological health of IDPs, who have been forced to relocate to a new environment, has not been adequately studied. The objective of this study was to compare the physical and psychological health of IDPs and non-displaced populations.
