Sepsis is associated with hypoperfusion and organ failure. The aims of the study were: 1) to assess the effect of pimobendan on macrocirculation and perfusion and 2) to describe a multimodal approach to the assessment of perfusion in sepsis and compare the evolution of the perfusion parameters. Eighteen anaesthetized female piglets were equipped for macrocirculation monitoring.

However, it is an extensive procedure that is associated with a variety of morbidities. We evaluated the safety and clinical outcomes of CRS-HIPEC performed at our centre.

This method showed an increased local drug extravasation in tumor tissue while reducing the systemic adverse effects in various tumor models.
Area Covered: We focused on preclinical and clinical studies investigating the therapeutic efficacy and safety of this technology for the treatment of colorectal, pancreatic, and liver cancers.
This study aimed to evaluate the variations of infrared thermography according to rapid hemodynamic changes, by measuring the peripheral skin temperature in a porcine model. Eight healthy piglets were anesthetized and exposed to different levels of arterial pressure. Thermography was performed on the left forelimb to measure carpus and elbow skin temperature and their associated gradient with the core temperature.

Patients And Methods: Records of patients referred for TIPS between 2004 and 2015 for NCPHT were reviewed. No patient should have clinical or biological or histological features of cirrhosis.
Aim: To prospectively evaluate the performance of Doppler-ultrasonography (US) for the detection of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) dysfunction within a multicenter cohort of cirrhotic patients.
Methods: This study was conducted in 10 french teaching hospitals. After TIPS insertion, angiography and liver Doppler-US were carried out every six months to detect dysfunction (defined by a portosystemic gradient ≥ 12 mmHg and/or a stent stenosis ≥ 50%).
With the growing role of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) in the management of portal hypertension complications, a number of women of childbearing age are now being treated with TIPS. However, if pregnancy is unusual in patients with cirrhosis, it can occur in the case of noncirrhotic portal hypertension. To our knowledge, there are no data on pregnancy safety after TIPS insertion.

Our aim was to compare the primary patency of TIPS performed with CS and BS.
Methods: The study was planned as a multicenter, pragmatic (with centers different in size and experience), randomized, single-blinded (with blinding of patients only), parallel group trial.
Background: Renal biopsies are usually performed by a nephrologist and require ultrasound guidance from an expert. This procedure can be time-consuming and expensive.
Patients And Methods: We propose using a robotic arm, controlled from a remote location, to perform ultrasound guidance during renal biopsies in postrenal transplant patients.

Aim: Many researchers consider portal thrombosis (PT) as a contraindication to transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS). The aim of this retrospective study was to compare the feasibility and long-term prognosis of TIPS in cirrhotic patients, with and without, complete PT.
Patients And Methods: Four hundred and thirty-six consecutive cirrhotic patients with portal hypertension were referred for TIPS, between 1990 and 2004.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to design and validate a method of performing sonography between an expert center and an isolated site. A sonography probe is held on the patient by a robotic arm and remotely controlled from the expert's center. The robotic arm reproduces all the movements of the expert's dummy probe on the patient probe.

Clinical Features: A morbidly obese patient with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease underwent prostate surgery in the lithotomy position under spinal anesthesia. Hypoxemia was encountered during surgery, and a profound decrease of forced vital capacity associated with alveolar hypoventilation and ventilation/perfusion mismatching were observed.
The objective of the present project was to design and validate a method for teleoperating (from an expert site) an echographic examination in an isolated site. A dedicated robotic arm holding a real ultrasound (US) probe is remotely controlled from the expert site with a fictive probe, and reproduces on the real probe all the movements of the expert hand. The isolated places, defined as areas with reduced medical facilities, could be secondary hospitals 20 to 50 km from the university hospital, or dispensaries in Africa or Amazonia, or a moving structure like a rescue vehicle or the International Space Station (ISS).

The secondary aim was to assess the efficacy of pneumatic abdomino-diaphragmatic belt ventilation in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Using M-mode sonography, we measured the amplitude of diaphragm excursion in seven patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in various positions (0 degrees, 45 degrees, 75 degrees ) with and without pneumatic abdomino-diaphragmatic belt respiratory assistance.
