Aims: Semaglutide, a novel long-acting GLP-1RA, stimulates insulin and suppresses islet-secreted glucagon to reduce glucose levels. It has been unveiled that m6A mRNA modification plays a pivotal role in regulating β cell function. However, it remains unclear whether semaglutide can elicit protective effects through manipulating m6A modification and the underlying mechanism.

The functional food ingredients of apple juice can significantly change during processing, transportation, and storage, thus affecting the quality of the product. A simple and derivation-free analytical method based on ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) was developed and optimized for the simultaneous determination of functional food ingredients in apple juice bought in the market. Cleanup steps and chromatographic conditions were optimized to remove interference and decrease the matrix effect.

In CuZnSnS (CZTS) solar cells, it is crucial to suppress the generation of and remove the SnS secondary phase to improve the solar cell characteristics, as the SnS secondary phase affects the barrier for carrier collection and diode characteristics of the device. In this study, the nano-metallic precursor was modified to effectively suppress the generation of the SnS secondary phase on the surface and simultaneously improve the uniformity and quality of the thin film. The CZTS bifacial solar cells prepared via the proposed method exhibited significantly improved junction-rectifying characteristics, as the efficiency was improved to 1.

Background: Postoperative gastrointestinal function recovery is critical for rapid rehabilitation of patients with gastrointestinal tumors. Traditional Chinese medicine offers considerable advantages for gastrointestinal disease treatment. However, no study has reported the clinical efficacy of intradermal needle therapy (INT) at the Yuan-source, Luo-connecting, and He-sea points of the corresponding meridian for gastrointestinal function in patients following surgery for gastrointestinal tumors.

Tracing the sources of cyber-attacks in Power Industrial Control Systems (PICS) can help the defense systems to block the attacks, and support the decision of the grid control policies. However, there has been no work on the cyber-attack source traceback for PICS, and the methods for the Internet are not suitable for PICS in terms of fineness, real-time performance, and supporting communication protocols. Therefore, a method for tracing cyber-attacks in PICS is proposed.

Background And Objectives: Qingbutongluo pill (QBTLP), a Chinese herbal preparation, has been developed to treat brucellosis for many years with a good therapeutic effect. This study preliminarily explored its potential molecular mechanisms against brucellosis through network pharmacology.

Methods: The active ingredients of QBTLP were screened out mainly from the Traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology database and analysis platform (TCMSP), and their potential targets were predicted through the PubChem database and Swiss Target Prediction platform.

The metabolism, tissue distribution and excretion of taxifolin in rat after oral administration of taxifolin encapsulated zein-caseinate Nanoparticles (TZP) were studied. The isomerization of taxifolin in rat small intestine and colon was found. Besides isomers, 16 metabolites of taxifolin were identified in rat feces, plasma and urine by UPLC-QTOF-MS.

The micronucleus (MN) assay is widely used as part of a battery of tests applied to evaluate the genotoxic potential of chemicals, including new food additives and novel food ingredients. Micronucleus assays typically utilise homogenous in vitro cell lines which poorly recapitulate the physiology, biochemistry and genomic events in the gut, the site of first contact for ingested materials. Here we have adapted and validated the MN endpoint assay protocol for use with complex 3D reconstructed intestinal microtissues; we have named this new protocol the reconstructed intestine micronucleus cytome (RICyt) assay.

Unlabelled: Slowly digestible gorgon nut starch (GN-SDS) was prepared by heating-cooling treatment (HCT), meanwhile its morphological and structural features were characterized in detail by SEM, DSC, XRD and IR detection. The optimized parameters of GN-SDS processing were as following: starch milk (20%) was heated at 100 °C for 20 min, and then cooled under 4 °C for 24 h. Under the optimized parameters, the SDS content increased from 20.

Three shell materials, lecithin (ZNP-L), chitosan (ZNP-CH) and sodium caseinate (ZNP-SC), were used to prepare core-shell zein nanoparticles. Astilbin was encapsulated as a model flavonoid to compare the influence of the shell materials on zein nanoparticles both and . The particle size was moderately increased by lecithin and sodium caseinate, but notably increased by chitosan.

Sensorimotor performance declines during advanced age, partially due to deficits in somatosensory acuity. Cortical receptive field expansion contributes to somatosensory deficits, suggesting increased excitability or decreased inhibition in primary somatosensory cortex (S1) pyramidal neurons. To ascertain changes in excitability and inhibition, we measured both properties in neurons from vibrissal S1 in brain slices from young and aged mice.

Background: Fungal rhinosinusitis is an infectious and/or allergic disease caused by fungi in the sinus and nasal cavity. Due to the warm and humid climate in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the incidence of fungal rhinosinusitis is higher than that in other provinces. However, its physiological mechanism is not yet clear.

The study was designed to investigate the chemical composition and antioxidant activities of polysaccharides from Tea. The chemical composition of green tea polysaccharides (GTPS) was analyzed by Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermogravimetric (TGA), gas chromatograph (GC), and high-performance gel-permeation chromatography (HPGPC). Then, the antioxidant activities of GTPS, effects of GTPS on body weight, and the antioxidant activities in chickens were studied.

Cell surface receptors play an important role in mediating cell communication and are used as disease biomarkers and therapeutic targets. We present a one-pot molecular toolbox, which we term the split proximity circuit (SPC), for the autonomous detection and visualization of cell surface receptor clusters. Detection was powered by antibody recognition and a series of autonomous DNA hybridization to achieve localized, enzyme-free signal amplification.

Four new polysaccharides (GPP-20, GPP-40, GPP-60 and GPP-80) were fractionated from Gynura procumbens leaves by 20%, 40%, 60% and 80% (v/v) ethanol, successively. Their physicochemical properties including the contents of neutral sugar, uronic acid and protein, as well as the monosaccharide composition were determined. In addition, the antioxidant activities of them were investigated via the reducing power assay and scavenging capacities of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radicals and hydroxyl free radicals, respectively.
