Rapid Progressive Osteonecrosis of the Humeral Head After Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Surgery.

Purpose: To verify the clinical features and the risk factors of rapid progressive osteonecrosis of the humeral head after arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery (ARCS).

Methods: Data and medical records of 24 patients who had rapid progressive collapse of the humeral head after ARCS performed from October 2012 to March 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 8 patients demonstrated no evidence of osteonecrosis of the humeral head preoperatively yet developed rapid progressive collapse of the humeral head within 12 months after ARCS.

Anterior Shoulder Instability with Concomitant Superior Labrum from Anterior to Posterior (SLAP) Lesion Compared to Anterior Instability without SLAP Lesion.

Background: The aims of this study were to investigate the clinical characteristics of patients with combined anterior instability and superior labrum from anterior to posterior (SLAP) lesions, and to analyze the effect of concomitant SLAP repair on surgical outcomes.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent arthroscopic stabilization for anterior shoulder instability between January 2004 and March 2013. A total of 120 patients were available for at least 1-year follow-up.

Effect of Teres Minor Fatty Infiltration on Rotator Cuff Repair Outcomes.

Purpose: To observe changes in fatty infiltration (FI) of the teres minor without tear of the teres minor in a postoperative magnetic resonance imaging and to evaluate the influence of FI of the teres minor in the clinical outcomes of rotator cuff repair.

Methods: Of 816 patients who underwent rotator cuff repair, 51 (6.3%) had FI of the teres minor without tear involvement and 30 cases were available for postoperative magnetic resonance imaging.

Validity, reliability, and responsiveness of the Korean version of American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Foot and Ankle questionnaire.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Foot and Ankle Questionnaire (AFAQ) reflects patients' subjective disorder due to foot and ankle conditions. We evaluated the validity, reliability, and responsiveness of the Korean version of the AFAQ, after translation and transcultural adaptation of the original AFAQ into the Korean language. A total of 206 patients were enrolled, including 152 with chronic problems (experimental group) and 54 with acute problems (control group).

Atlantoaxial rotatory subluxation after surgical relocation of Sprengel deformity: a case report.

We report a case of atlantoaxial rotatory subluxation developed after scapular relocation for Sprengel deformity in a 5-year-old girl. Scapular relocation descended the scapula by 60%, and achieved a normal shoulder joint motion. However, atlantoaxial rotatory subluxation developed, probably by pulling force of the tightened anterior fibers of upper trapezius muscle.
