Objectives: We aimed to investigate the association between physical activity (PA) and the risk of incident multimorbidity in adults from southern Brazil during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Study Design: Prospective Study.
Methods: We analyzed data from the Prospective Study about Physical and Mental Health (PAMPA) cohort, a longitudinal study of adults living in southern Brazil.
Most COVID-19 survivors have reported experiencing persistent symptoms after the infection - these types of cases are known as long COVID. Since Brazil was an epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, a high burden of long COVID is expected. This study aimed to identify the prevalence and factors associated with long COVID in adults in Southern Brazil, analyzing data from the PAMPA cohort.

Background: Physical activity has been shown to benefit patients undergoing adjuvant cancer therapy. Although exercise interventions may be applied in several settings, most trials have focused on specialized facilities for their interventions. While these approaches benefit the access for individuals living near exercise centers, it hampers the assessment of real-world effectiveness.

Methods: Studies that used population-based samples to estimate the population attributable fraction (PAF) of physical inactivity for dementia were included in this review. Weighted PAFs were adjusted for communality among the risk factors (i.
This study aimed to characterize the combined association between cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), muscular strength, and cognitive outcomes in middle-aged and older adults from low and middle-income countries (LMICs). We analyzed cross-sectional, population-based data from adults aged 50 years or older from six LMICs. Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) was defined according to the National Institute on Aging-Alzheimer's Association criteria.

We analyzed data from a birth cohort (The 1958 National Child Development Survey), including births in England, Wales and Scotland.
Methods: Physical activity was assessed using questionnaires at ages 7, 11 and 16.
Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, people with low back pain (LBP) might have avoided seeking care for their pain. We aimed to investigate how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected LBP care seeking behavior among adults.
Methods: Data from four assessments of the PAMPA cohort were analyzed.
Unlabelled: Population-level studies investigating the incidence of memory complaints during the COVID-19 pandemic are scarce.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the incidence of memory complaints over 15 months during the COVID-19 pandemic in adults from Southern Brazil.
Methods: Data from the PAMPA (Prospective Study about Mental and Physical Health in Adults) cohort, a longitudinal study with adults residing in Southern Brazil, were analyzed.
Background: To evaluate the short-term impact of COVID-19 pandemic on low back pain (LBP) outcomes in southern Brazil.
Methods: Data from the PAMPA Cohort were analyzed. Adults were recruited between June and July 2020 in the Rio Grande do Sul state using online-based strategies.
We examined the longitudinal association between physical activity (PA) and the incidence of self-reported diagnosed depression in adults in southern Brazil during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data from the PAMPA (Prospective Study About Mental and Physical Health) cohort was used. Data collection for baseline was carried out on June-July 2020, with two follow-up assessments taking place six months apart.

Objectives: To assess the incidence of multimorbidity and its associated factors among adults living in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Design And Setting: Cohort study conducted in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Background: A continuous tracking of the PA level during the COVID-19 pandemic is important to understand how people's behaviour has varied along time. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physical activity (PA) trajectory over the first 10 months of the COVID-19 pandemic in the south of Brazil.
Methods: Data from three timepoints of the PAMPA Cohort were used, as follows: (1) pre-COVID-19 (retrospective); (2) Jun/Jul 2020; (3) Dec 2020/Jan 2021.

We aim to examine the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the ethnoracial disparities in hospitalizations due to dementia and its related outcomes, in Brazil. A longitudinal panel study was carried out with data extracted from the Hospital Information Systems of the Brazilian Unified National Health System (SIH/SUS). We assessed the number of hospital admission per 100,000 inhabitants, mean inpatient spending, and inpatient mortality rate due to dementia during the first semester of 2019 and 2020.

Methods: Participants were recruited from social and local media campaigns, contacts with private and public universities, as well as research personal contacts across the state. PA was assessed before (retrospectively) and during social distancing.
Brazil has the second highest age-standardized prevalence of Alzheimer's disease worldwide. However, information about Alzheimer's disease-related hospitalizations in Brazil is scarce despite its economic and social impact. We described temporal trends in hospitalizations related to Alzheimer's disease in Brazil from 2010 to 2019.

Methods: Baseline data from the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Aging were analyzed. This nationwide survey interviewed 9,412 adults aged at least 50 years.
Background: We aimed to test which life course model best described the association between leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) and multimorbidity at age 55. We analyzed data from birth to age 55 using the database from the 1958 National Child Development Survey.
Methods: Multimorbidity was considered as the presence of more than one chronic condition.
The objective was to identify the impact of social distance in the management of noncommunicable diseases (NCD) in the adult population from the state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. This is an ambispective, population-based cohort study. Descriptive analysis and Poisson regression models were used and the results were reported as prevalence ratio and 95% confidence intervals.

Nevertheless, this strategy has other undesirable effects such as physical inactivity and psychological distress, which are associated with cognitive impairment. We aimed to examine whether physical activity during social distancing restrictions could reduce the risk of subjective memory decline in adults.
